GABBY CONCEPCION says he’s thankful to GMA-7 for giving him shows where his leading ladies are much younger than him, like Carla Abellana in “Because of You” and Sunshine Dizon and Ryza Cenon in “Ika-6 na Utos”, both big hits. He’s now paired with Jennylyn Mercado who’s just turning 32 on May 15. He’s 54, so Jen could very well be his daughter, since his own eldest child, KC Concepcion, is now 34 years old.
But in all fairness to Gabby, he has really taken very good care of himself and looks much younger than his age. His star quality has not diminished and a lot of girls still find him very appealing. And judging from the way the viewing public has warmly accepted his shows with his past younger co-stars, we have enough reason to believe that “Love You Two” will also be a big hit on GMA Telebabad.”
“Masaya talaga na mas bata ang mga nagiging kapareha ko kasi nakakabata rin ng feeling, e,” he says. “Dito ngayon sa set ng ‘Love You Two’, I’m really enjoying kasi batambata rin ang director namin, si Irene Villamor, so nakakabagets talaga at para lang kaming naglalaro sa taping namin. Pati ibang co-stars namin, puro mas bata, like Solenn Heussaff, Sheena Halili, Kiray Celis, Michelle Dee. So magaan ang trabaho ng lahat. Feeling ko, introducing ulit ako and I have nothing to complain about, but only a lot to be thankful for.”
In “Love You Two”, Gabby plays Jake, a rich hotel owner who is initially at odds with Jennylyn Mercado as Raffy, who he hired to do some designs for his hotel. Complications occur when both Jennylyn and her younger sister, Shaira Diaz as Sam, both fall in love with the irresistible Gabby.
A lot of writers wanting to interview Gabby one-on-one at the presscon of “Love You Two” were disappointed. Right after the question-and-answer portion, Gabby quickly left, obviously avoiding being interviewed more intimately. He’s currently in the news because his younger brother Mike filed a case in court against him for “fraudulent sales” of a family property.
While Gabby seems to be hiding, Mike is allowing himself to be interviewed in various media. He was just heard on DZMM saying to Gabby: “Bro, you have a lot of the things that can make this right. Sundan mo lang ‘yon and everything will be back to normal. We can have breakfast tomorrow morning sa bahay, we can hug each other, we can do what we used to do. That’s all. Maisauli lang, mailagay lang sa ayos lahat and all will be fine.”
