GLAIZA DE CASTRO is now the official endorser of Symply G Hair & Skin Care brand. No less than the company’s president, Mr. Glenn Sy (brother of Dr. Gary Sy) officially welcomed her at her launch. “Saktong-sakto nga kasi G talaga ako as Glaiza and my real family name is Galura,” she says.
After doing “Contessa”, Glaiza is now a special guest in “Sahaya” as the teacher of Bianca Umali, who plays the title role. She also appeared in last Saturday’s episode of “Magpakailanman”. On the big screen, after winning a best actress award for “Liway”, she has now just finished two new movies. First is a science-fiction thriller, “Midnight”, with Jasmine Curtis Smith, Bing Pimentel and Anthony Falcon, directed by Dodo Dayao. Then she’s also in the drama, “My Letters to Happy”, co-starring with TJ Trinidad and volleyball player Alyssa Valdez in her first movie. This is a film about mental illness directed by Pertee Brinias.
How about a new teleserye? “Wala pa, e. At baka hindi ko na rin magawa kasi I am leaving in July to study music production in London for three months. Nagpaalam na ako sa GMA. I want to expand my skills as you know how much I love music.”
And it just so happens that her British boyfriend named Dave also lives there. “Yes, also his two sisters, but their parents stay in Ireland.”
How long have they been on? “We’ve known each other for over a year but we’ve been officially on since September lang.”
How did they meet? “We met in Siargao Island. We were both on vacation there and we met because we both loved music. May musical connection agad. Maganda ang taste niya in music. He didn’t know I’m in showbiz but the people there told him, artista yan. Pagbalik ng Manila, he initiated communicating with me and even said, I’d like to meet your parents. Ako rin, he introduced me to his family when I went to England. Masaya silang kasama, kung anu-anong ibinibigay sa’kin, although kung minsan, nagno-nosebleed ako dahil sa British accent sila, e.”
What does she like in him? “Siempre, mahirap ang situation namin, kasi LDR kami (long distance relationship). Seven hours ang difference. Gumigising ako, about to sleep naman siya. But he really makes an effort to communicate with me. He even writes letters and sends me cute stuff. Parang high school lang ang peg, kaya nakakakilig. Ako naman, when he’s here, I show him the kind of life I have.
"He has seen me perform in my gigs amd how I act in the movie ‘Liway’. Sobrang bait niya, parang too good to be true kasi very understanding lalo na pag may topak ako when I’m stressed at ayokong makipag-relate sa kanya. I told him if ever, hindi ko puedeng iwanan ang career ko rito and he said siya ang maga-adjust for me.”
Will she take him for skin and hair treatment in Symply G? It’s the owner, Mr. Glenn Sy, who replies: “Yes, Symply G is unisex so we’ll be glad to have her boyfriend with us.”
Glaiza says she didn’t agree to endorse Symply G right away. “I’m very careful, kasi yung Brazilian treatment na ginawa sa’kin when I was doing ‘Contessa’, too strong for me and it damaged my hair. So sabi ko, I will try their products muna and when I proved for myself na okay naman pala, ayun, tinanggap ko na.”
And why did Mr. Sy choose Glaiza as endorser? “As an actress, she’s also a certified social media influencer with millions of followers in Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. She has won many awards an actress but she’s also active in sports and music with a hit digital album, so she’s perfect for us as endorser of Symply G”.
