JOHN LLOYD CRUZ maybe in a self-imposed hibernation at the moment, but he’s obviously still considered as a very hot copy. Showbiz writers are still watching his every move. Each post made about him on the internet spawns many speculative and embroidered stories in gossip sites and columns, some of which are frankly preposterous.
His photos showing him sporting a thick moustache and goatee prompted some showbiz writers to declare: “John Lloyd, mukha nang ermitanyo (hermit).” And because he is shown on his own in various parts of Mindanao like Cagayan de Oro, Lanao and Bukidnon while his inamorata, Ellen Adarna, is also on her own in Bali, Indonesia, this instantly triggered speculations that they’ve called it quits: “John Lloyd at Ellen, hiwalay na!”
But they should all now be embarrassed as the latest social media postings on John Lloyd show him being reunited with Ellen and their son, Elias Modesto, in Bali. John Lloyd and Ellen are obviously now having their last laugh.
Speculative stories continue to circulate about John Lloyd. When he agreed to do an endorsement, some writers quickly concluded: “John Lloyd, magbabalik-showbiz na!” But this didn’t happen.
Then someone wrote that he has already sent feelers to ABS-CBN to say that he wants to make a comeback, but Kapamilya exec reportedly said they’re no longer interested.
We honestly doubt the veracity of this story. John Lloyd is one of their biggest stars and has made many blockbuster hits for them, so we don’t think the Kapamilyas would reject him that easily. We ourselves have no doubt that, eventually, he will able to make a successfully showbiz comeback.
What happened to him has happened to Richard Gutierrez before. Burnout is real and can cause chronic stress that leads to physical fatigue and emotional exhaustion, so Richard took some time out and, in the process, started his own family. Now a dad of two good looking boys, he was eventually able to make a good successful comeback on TV and films.
We have no doubt that, if and when John Lloyd feels he has rested well enough and is ready to work again, ABS-CBN and his fans will also be more than ready to take him back with open arms. In the meantime, let’s leave him alone in peace as he enjoys having an ordinary stress-free life.
