JOYCE PRING is seen regularly on GMA’s “Unang Hirit” and Kapuso Artistambayan, and is now making a name for herself as a TV host. She’s now also included in the new online newscast, “Stand for Truth”, which she headlines with Atom Araullo and political analyst Richard Heydarian. Joyce is the daughter of Joe Pring, a legendary cop whose life was filmed starring Phillip Salvador. He was killed in an ambush when Joyce was only two years old.
“I don’t really have any memory of him except for what I saw in photos,” she says. “But my lola says I took after my dad and I could feel, sa kanya nga ako nagmana kasi I’m not the typical girl na very feminine as I love to do a lot of dangerous things.”
Her mom has remarried, three years after her dad departed, to an Indian national, and she gets along well with her stepdad. She was a scholar at the Philippine Science High School then took up fine arts in UP, but eventually went into sports when she joined triathlon races and car racing.
In “Unang Hirit”, she is paired with actor Juancho Trivino, on and off cam. They post pictures of themselves together looking oh so romantic, but Joyce insists Juancho is still courting him since January. “And I’m giving him a hard time,” she laughs.
Her last boyfriend was Sam YG and she’s now taking her time to make sure she’s truly ready for another relationship. “At this point, I feel I’m not ready yet to get into a new one,” she adds.
In “Stand for Truth”, which starts airing this April 15 on youtube and GMA’s online platforms, she’ll be handling the music segment and this is just well with her as she loves music and also writes songs. WIll she be eventually going into acting and perhaps do a teleserye with Juancho? “I don’t think so, simply because I don’t know how to act.”
