THERESE MALVAR is now one of the most hated villains on television for her portrayal of Ariela in “Inagaw na Bituin”. How does she react to all the bashing she’s getting for being so mean and bitchy to Kyline Alcantara and her sister, Melbelline Caluag, who has since died?
“Actually, expected ko naman pong magagalit ang viewers sa kamalditahan ko but yung grabeng feedback ng haters is more than I expected,” she says. “One episode na I sabotaged ang performance nina Kyline and Melbelline, umabot ng 1 million hits at sobrang galit talaga ang viewers sa akin, hating me with a passion. At first, medyo ako affected ako, but then, iniisip ko na lang na hindi naman sila sa akin galit nang personal but doon sa character ko, so hindi ako dapat magalit din sa kanila. It’s Ariela who’s being bashed, not really me as Therese.”
But since then, there have been some changes in the way that the story is going. “Lately, mas bumait na yung character ko, e,” adds Therese. “Lumambot na ang puso ni Ariela. Lalo na nang si Angelika de la Cruz as Lucy, nabisto nang siya palang kumidnap sa anak ni Sunshine Cruz as Belinda na si Ana kaya pinaghahanap na siya ng mga pulis. Nag-sorry na nga ako kay Angelu de Leon as Aurora para sa mga kasamaang ginawa ko sa kanila ni Kyline Alcantara as Elsa. Pero magkakaroon ng bagong villain sa show, si Gabby Eigenmann as George who felt betrayed pagkatapos na umurong si Belinda at ayaw nang ituloy ang showbiz career niya after matagpuan ang nawawalang anak at maging reunited na sila nito. Paplanuhin naman niyang maghiganti kina Belinda at Anna.”
Off camera, Therese is a very obedient to her mom, Cherry Malvar, who’s also a character actress. Despite her hectic showbiz work, she strives hard to continue with her studies. “Yes, I make it a point to do my homework and assignments kaya dinadala ko sila sa set so I can do them during shooting breaks,” she says. “It’s good high tech na tayo kaya, with the help of my laptop, I can accomplishment the requirements I need in school while I’m working on the set. I promised my parents na hindi ko pababayaan ang aking pag-aaral kaya naman I’m doing my best para tuparin yon, kasi alam ko namang it’s for my own good. We all know naman na ang acting is not always stable so mas mabuti na rin kung may maganda akong fallback kung wala nang magandang offers sa’kin sa showbiz.”
