MIGUEL TANFELIX is in third year taking up entrepreneurship at La Salle Dasmarinas but he had no choice but to stop this semester because of his hectic workload. He is in the primetime soap, “Sahaya”, on GMA Telebabad, and he is in the cast of two new movies, GMA Pictures’ dramedy, “Family History”, and APT Entertainment’s horror flick, “Banal”. “Wala po akong time sa studies dahil sa sobrang pagka-busy, kaya nag-leave muna ako,” he says. “Ang hirap ding pagsabayin, e.”
He is paired with Bianca Umali in all his current projects. At GMA-7, they’ve done about 10 shows together, but despite all these shows, Miguel says they’ve never really been officially committed to each other.
“Naging very close talaga kami sa isa’t isa, kasi halos sabay kaming lumaki,” he says. “So hindi na mababago yung magkasundong-magkasundo talaga kami. We confide to each other. Pag magkasama kami, tawanan kami nang tawanan kahit halos 5 AM na pala. Basta masaya kami ngayon as we are. At 20, wala pa po akong nagiging girlfriend.”
But he was linked before to Barbie Forteza and Kyline Alcantara? “Hindi po totoo yun. Alam nyo naman sa showbiz, uso ang link-link na ganyan. I feel that I still have to know and discover a lot more about myself before I get into any serious relationship. LIke right now, natuklasan ko sa set ng ‘Sahaya’ na I enjoy sketching pala.”
In “Family History”, Miguel plays the only son of Dawn Zulueta and Michael V. “The name of my character is Malex, pinagsama ang names ng parents ko, May and Alex. Vocalist-guitarist po ako ng isang band dito. May problema ang parents ko, so malayo ang loob ko sa kanila at mas close ako pa sa’king friends, like Bianca, na anak naman po nina John Estrada at Ina Feleo.”
So how is it working with Michael and Dawn? “Bilib ako kay Kuya Bitoy kasi very creative talaga siya. He wrote the script, director pa siya at artista pa siya. Nakakatuwa siya panoorin sa set habang dinidirek niya kami pati ang sarili niya. Si Ms. Dawn naman, na-starstruck ako sa ganda niya. Tapos napakagaling pang umarte. I feel so blessed being given the chance to work with both of them.”
He’s also happy to be part of a relevant teleserye like “Sahaya” where he plays a Badjaw lad called Achmad. “I learned a lot from doing the show, about the culture of our ethnic tribes. Happy rin akong nakatrabaho rito si Tito Pen Medina who plays the leader of the Badjaws. He’s very generous at marami akong natutuhan sa kanya not only about acting but about life and art. Happy rin kami kasi laging mataas ang rating ng show. So to our regular viewers, thank you po at sana manood pa kayo.”
