WINWYN MARQUEZ turned down the role of Carla Abellana’s sister in “Pamilya Roces” because she’s supposed to have an affair with her own brother in law, Rocco Nacino, and do some sexy scenes. But now, she plays the role of a flirty Pinay in Saudi who’s married to an Arab, but still seduces Benjamin Alves in “Dahil sa Pag-ibig”. And yes, she’s doing some sexy scenes freely this time. We ask Director Ricky Davao how he’s able to convince Winwyn to do the role?
“Well, I just told her she’s an actress so she should be open to do even provocative scenes,” he says. “Pumayag naman siya agad and she’s very cooperative.”
One writer quips: “Hindi siya pumayag noon sa ‘Pamilya Roces’ kasi sila pa ni Mark Herras. Binawalan siguro. E, sa ngayon, wala na sila, so she’s free to do any role she’d like to do.”
Winwyn says she accepted her role in “Dahil sa Pag-ibig” because she really finds it challenging. “As Portia, I’m married to a rich Arab man sa Saudi at marami kaming paupahang bahay for OFW’s,” she says. “Isa sa mga umuupa sa amin is Benjamin Alves at nagustuhan ko siya. Nireregaluhan ko ng kung anu-ano at inakit ko kahit alam kong may asawa siya sa Pilipinas, si Sanya Lopez.
"Dahil sa’kin, mapapahamak siya. Mahuhuli kami ng asawa ko at mapapatay niya ito while defending himself. He’ll be arrested and sentenced to die by beheading. Malandi si Portia, pero patago, kasi maraming bawal dahil Arabo nga ang asawa niya, kaya naintriga ako sa role. Hindi kontrabida yung character ko ha. Parang kulang lang siya sa pag-ibig kaya naghahanap siya.”
After she broke up with Mark, she was linked recently to Alden Richards and, as maybe expected, Aldub fans quickly pounced on her and called her “manggagamit.”
“I’m really surprised sa sobrang pamba-bash nila sa akin,” she says. “All I did is nag-attend lang ako ng opening ng sariling McDonald’s outlet ni Alden sa Laguna and we had our pictures taken together. E, dati ko na namang friend si Alden, way back sa ‘One True Love’ pa. And he invited me so nagpunta ako, along with his other showbiz friends na kinumbida niya.
"Nilagyan na agad ng ibang kulay at ng malisya yung pagiging magkatabi namin sa photos at nagulat na lang akong nili-link na kami. I’m sure even Alden was surprised. Talagang good friends lang kami, so dedma na lang ako sa lahat ng bashing.”
So she has remained loveless after Mark? “Yes. I’m not ready yet to get into another relationship. Ine-enjoy ko pa yung pagiging single ko.”
So what did Mark say about her being linked to Alden? “Wala. We haven’t talked for a long time and knowing him, hindi siya basta-basta maniniwala.”
