ASHLEY RIVERA used to be known as Petra Mahalimuyak, her name in the blog she started in 2012 when she was still in America. It was a good outlet for her to entertain her when she gets bored with life in the USA. She posted her funny videos with her speaking in heavily accented on youtube and she got plenty of followers.
“I tried to join showbiz then but I got rejected sa auditions,” she adds. “I didn’t know si Petra pala ang magiging dahilan para mapansin ako sa showbiz.”
She got plenty of offers and she even became a cover girl for FHM Magazine. She signed up with Viva Artist Agency and appeared in supporting roles with them in “Secret Affair”, “Your Place or Mine”, “The Gifted”, the she did TV shows on GMA-7 like “Bubble Gang”, “Victor Magtanggol” and her latest is “The Better Woman”, where she plays Chesi, the best friend of Andrea Torres pokpok character, Juliet. What about her lovelife? Does she have a BF?
“Naku, wala, pass muna po ako,” she says. “Focus muna ko sa ‘Better Woman’ kasi malalayo ang location namin, e. Kung hindi sa San Juan, La Union, sa Laiya. Batangas. Also mahirap ang panahon ngayon, ayoko na uling matanso.”
What does she mean? “Naku, nabiktima na ako ng mga nagpapanggap na lalake. My last boyfriend was two years ago pa. After that, nakipag-date ako. Yung una, male model, actually, pareho pala silang models. Mga guwapo. Yung una, after our first date, may tumawag sa’kin, beki yan. So umiwas na ako. Doon sa susunod. Ganun na naman.
"Hindi ko alam kung magnet ba talaga ako sa bading or gusto lang nila akong gamiting props for cover up. So tama na muna ang dating. I will just wait for a real man to come into my life. As of now, nage-enjoy naman ako sa ‘The Better Woman’. Most of my scenes are with Andrea Torres and okay siya so we’re having fun sa taping namin.”
