JANINE GUTIERREZ admits that the title role of “Dragon Lady” is the most demanding character she has played on screen so far. “Bida-kontrabida kasi si Scarlet del Fuego aka Celestina Chua,” she says. “Yung dragon statue in her possession brings both good luck and a bad curse into her life. Parang action role ang ginagawa ko kasi panay ang away rambulan namin nina Joyce Ching as Astrid and Maricar de Mesa as Vera.
"Kung magsapakan kami, totoong-totoo, sabunutan, sampalan, bugbugan talaga. Hindi ako magpapatalo sa kanila at talagang lalaban ako with the help of my friend Aira Bermudez as Calista. And I should thank our scriptwriters for giving me lines na click sa viewers, like noong ‘Huwag mo kong gagalawin, kare-retouch ko lang!’ Ang daming gumagaya!”
The show has many revelations lately. The cat is out of the bag that Janine and Joyce really have the same father so they are half sisters and Scarlet is also the grand daughter of Raquel Villavicencio as their Lola Philippa. When their Lola celebrated her 70th birthday with the entire Filipino-Chinese community, she asks both Scarlet and Astrid to stage a challenge in a friendly dance competition in front of all the guests. Lola Philippa eventually discovered the truth that Maricar and Joyce have been deceiving her for a long time.
But the top question of regular viewers of the show is whether there will still be a happy ending for the love story of Janine with Tom Rodriguez as Michael in the story. They’ve gone through so much tribulations and viewers feel bad that it looks like their romance is now doomed forever. “Dragon Lady” is on its last couple of weeks and will have its exciting finale on July 20.
It will be replaced by the horror drama, “Hanggang sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko”, starring Megan Young, Rayver Cruz, Kim Domingo and Kris Bernal as the woman spurned by Rayver who becames an avenging ghost that haunts Megan.
