RAYVER CRUZ considers himself so lucky. After he moved to GMA-7, he now plays nothing but lead roles, first in “Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko” and now, in the new afternoon soap, “Hanggang sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko”. In “Asawa Ko”, Kris Bernal and Thea Tolentino fought over him. Now, it’s Kris Bernal and Megan Young who are rivals over his affection, and we’re told even Kim Domingo will join them later to make the rivarly an even more intriguing foursome.
“Siempre, masaya akong may followup project agad ako,” he says. “And yes, it’s a different kind of love triangle kasi yung isang girl, si Kris Bernal, is a multo. Magkababata kami rito ni Megan Young as Yvie but their family went abroad. Meantime, I met Kris as Katya at naging kami, but she’s so possessive na nasasakal ako kaya I broke up with her. Then Megan comes back and I realized it’s her I really love, so I offered to marry her. But Kris became so obsessed with me and wouldn’t give me up.
“She eventually dies and returns as a ghost at ayaw pa rin kaming patahimikin ni Megan. Kakaiba talaga ang story kasi ngayon lang nagkaroon ng ganitong teleserye na horror suspense-thriller. I’m sure viewers will be glued to it kasi makapigil-hininga talaga ang bawat episode. Second time na namin ni Kris in a soap kaya comfortable na kami sa isa’t isa, may rapport na. But si Megan, now ko lang naging leading lady and I’m honored kasi siempre, Miss World siya. She’s also easy to get along with.”
Rayver is still in mourning because of the recent demise of his mom, Melody Beth Cruz, due to pancreatic cancer last February. “We really miss her and nakipaglaban siya nang husto sa sakit niya. It’s hard to let her go but she’s in peace now with the Lord and no longer in pain. Life has to go on and good memories of the times we spent with her remain in our hearts ng dad ang brother ko.”
His new show will replace on July 22 his rumored GF’s soap, “Dragon Lady”, which ends on July 20. So what’s the real score now with him and Janine? “Ganun pa rin naman. We’re still exclusively dating. I’m thankful dahil she was very supportive to our family when we mourned the passing of my mom.”
Someone quips that they go abroad together and yet there’s still no official confirmation about their relationship? “Pag intense naman ang dating nyo puede na kayong magsama sa abroad,” he says. “Never namin kaming nag-travel na kaming dalawa lang. Laging nakikisabit lang ako sa trip ng family nila. So we’re not rushing things. Mas masarap daw pag matagal, like my brother Rodjun and si Diane, ten years na sila.”
