VITTO MARQUEZ is the youngest son of Alma Moreno and Joey Marquez. He started as a member of ABS-CBN’s all male dance group, Hashtags, then went on to star in youth movies like “Squad Goals”, “Otlum” and “Petmalu”. He’s now happy to be part of the dance movie, Viva’s “Indak”, which stars Nadine Lustre and Sam Concepcion and opens on August 7. “I started with dancing, so I’m glad na mapasama ako sa isang dance movie gaya ng ‘Indak’,” he says.
His mom, Alma Moreno, is a great dancer who topbilled her own show, “LoveliNess”, in the 80s. So obviously, he got his dancing genes from her? “Actually, ang nagmana sa kanya, ang Ate Winwyn ko,” he says. “She showed how good her dancing skills are in GMA shows at saludo talaga ako sa kanya. Walang buto yun, e. Her body is so flexible, malambot. Magkaiba rin kami ng style.”
He was in third year college taking up tourism when he decided to join showbiz. “Dapat, mago-OJT na ako, e. When I told my dad (Joey Marquez) about it, ayaw niya. He’d rather I finish my studies first. But then, sabi ko, gusto ko lang i-try, and I did. For a while, hindi niya ako kinakausap.
"But now, okay na kami. He told me, he’s supporting my decision at basta nandiyan lang daw siya lagi to help me. I now live independently. I have my own place. Mahirap, kasi I manage my own daily activities, but I’ve learned to adjust.”
Vitto is 5’9” and didn’t get his dad’s height of 6 feet. “Pero okay na rin.” And that’s not the only thing he didn’t get from Joey, a certified ladies’ man. At 22, Vitto is no chickboy but an NGSB, no girlfriend since birth, and he’s still a male virgin.
“It’s my own decision kasi I’m just starting my career.
"I want to concentrate my full attention and energy dito sa pinasok ko. Nandiyan ang temptations, but it’s a matter of discipline. I’m not afraid of commitment, but at this point, hindi pa ako puedeng mag-commit. Magiging kawawa lang yung girl kasi baka very committed siya, pero hindi ko masusuklian yun.”
He enjoyed doing all his dance numbers in “Indak”. “All in all, kasama ako sa four big production numbers. Sobrang nakakapagod yung training, rehearsals and actual shoot. Pumayat nga ako from 160 to 140 lbs. Pero ang saya lang. I’m sure when viewers watch our movie, pati sila, mapapasayaw rin sa loob ng moviehouse.”
