MARTIN DEL ROSARIO and Christian Bables both played the same role of Barbs. Martin in “Born Beautiful” and Christian in “Die Beautiful”. They now get to work together for the first time in “The Panti Sisters”, the certified topgrosser in the ongoing 3rd Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino. So how is it working with each other now?
“We were both excited sa start pa lang ng shoot,” says Martin, who also plays contravida to Alden Richards in GMA-7’s The Gift” that starts airing tonight after “Beautiful Justice”. “Although pinagsasabong kami ng ibang folks who compare kung sino ang mas magaling between us sa role ng Barbs. I was really looking forward to working with him kasi alam kong magaling siyang artista at nanalo na siya ng awards. So naisip ko agad, siguro ang saya sa set pag magkakasama kami, along with Paolo Ballesteros na pareho na rin naming nakatrabaho.”
“Ako rin, I looked forward for us to become friends and have a good working relationship,” says Christian. “At nangyari nga yun as we were shooting ‘The Panti Sisters’. Masaya talaga kami sa set along with Paolo and also all our co-stars, like John Arcilla as our dad, si Don Emilio, and also Carmi Martin and Rosanna Roces who played our mothers named Nora and Vilma.”
They’re now encouraged by the positive comments that their performances and the movie itself are getting. “Sobrang nakakatuwa, ang gaganda ng comments,” says Martin. “Lahat ng nakapanood, they agree na masaya ang pelikula at nakakatawa talaga.”
“At nawala na yung issues comparing us,” adds Christian. “Nakita kasing maganda talaga ang team work naming lahat. Kasi, between us ni Martin, wala naman talagang issue kaya never kaming naapektuhan nung mga controversy comparing us as performers and there has never been any hostility between us.”
And how is Paolo with the two of them around now competing with him in the laugh department? “Napakabait niya,” says Martin. “Yung scenes namin together in ‘Born Beautiful’, yun ang favorite ko, e. Napakasayang kasama.”
“Si Pao, walang insecurities sa katawan as he is even helping us,” adds Christian. “Sa mga eksena nga namin together, tinutulungan niya kami at hindi siya yung tipong mananapaw. Dito lang sa premiere night, tinawagan muna niya kami to make sure kung anong gowns ang isusuot namin para maganda ang coordination naming tatlo. We really enjoyed working with each other kaya sana, magkaroon pa ng sequel or prequel itong ‘The Panti Sisters’ as we really would enjoy working with each other again!”
