JANE OINEZA is happy with her role as a tech savvy millennial in “Ang Henerasyong Sumuko sa Love” that opens in theaters this Wednesday.

“I play Ma-an, a very competitive person,” she says. “Vlogger siya at gusto niyang maging top social media inflluencer. She advocates woman empowerment, kaya lang, may problema siya. Ang biggest rival niya is Thia Tomalia, na mas maraming regular subscribers kaysa sa kanya. And what irks her is the fact that Thia is the current girlfriend of her ex-boyfriend. So nai-insecure siya and she wants to prove that she’s not only the better vlogger but also the better girlfriend.”

She heads the big cast of the movie that also includes Myrtle Sarrosa, Tony Labrusca, Jerome Ponce and Albie Casino. How did she get the role of Ma-an?

“Nag-audition po ako. When I heard it will be directed by Jason Paul Laxamana, I got excited as I’ve seen his past works and I know he’s one of our better young directors today and I want try working with him. Eventually, nakatrabaho ko rin siya sa iWant series na ‘Project Feb. 14’ which was shown ahead of ‘Henerasyon’. Magaan siyang katrabaho kasi relaxed lang siya at masaya kami sa set with the whole cast.”

Was there a point that she has made “suko” or given up on love? “Sumuko ako sa isang relasyon, but not on love. I believe in having a special someone that inspires you. But if it goes wrong, dapat hindi ka sumuko, specially when it comes to loving yourself.”

What’s the craziest thing she did for love? “Yung I forget myself, kasi masyado kang naka-focus sa mahal mo. But I’ve since learned my lesson. Dapat di mo rin kalimutan ang sarili mo.”

Jane’s last boyfriend was Kyle Secades. They were both PBB housemates, but Jane was in PBB All In while Kyle was  in PBB Teens 737 where Kyle was billed as the Mr. Nice Guy of San Juan. They broke up a year ago and since then, Jane has been unattached.

“It just didn’t work,” she says. “Mabuti na rin kasi I became so busy with TV and movie work. Kung may boyfriend ako, hindi ko magagawa yung sexy love scenes with McCoy de Leon in ‘Project Feb. 14’, kaya mas okay na yung single at walang magbabawal.”
