JOAQUIN DOMAGOSO, son of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, has joined showbiz. He has just finished a youth-oriented movie, “Jolly Spirit Squad”, where he co-stars with other new teen stars: Tonichi Garcia, Juliana Rae, Kyle Reyes and Jake Ibay. They took acting workshops under Directors Joel Lamangan and Rahyan Carlos to prepare them for their roles as teenage ghosbusters. It’s good his dad allowed him to join showbiz?
“Okay lang po sa kanya,” says Joaquin. “Sinusuportahan pa niya ako and he also agreed to do a cameo role in our movie. I’m the third of his five kids at ako lang yung gustong sumunod sa footsteps niya in showbiz.”
What’s his dad’s foremost advice to him? “More than anything else, listen. Listen to your manager, si Daddy Wowie Roxas na manager din niya noon, to your directors, to your co-artists, kasi wala ka pang alam at sila ang makakatulong sa’yo sa career mo.”
Joaquin is turning 18 years old on October 24 and he’s a college freshman taking up entrepreneurship at Southville International School in Paranaque. He’s now with GMA-7 appearing regularly in “Studio 7” every Sunday night. He was offered to do a soap, “Primadonnas”, but his schedule won’t allow it as he has classes on weekdays. Has he signed up with GMA?
“Hindi pa po. Maghintay raw muna ako na mging 18 ako before I sign a contract.”
Has he had a girlfriend? “Minsan pa lang, when I was 15. But now, walang time kasi naging sobrang busy na ako. I’m also busy with my own advocacy. Together with Mrs. Universe Philippines Finest Woman 2019 Charo Laude, we are coordinating with about 100 Sangguniang Kabataan chairmen sa Manila to bring free medical clinic and feeding program to various barangays.”
