ALYSSA MUHLACH says she’s not a fan of horror movies as she easily gets scared, but irony of ironies, her very first movie, “Clarita” with Jodi Sta. Maria, is a horror movie and her second one, “Hellcome Home”, is also an intense horror flick.

“Noong una, I admit, hesitant akong gumawa ng another horror movie,” she says. “But when I learned na si Dennis Trillo ang leading man ko, I felt na sayang naman yung opportunity to work with him when I know he’s one of our best actors today. Tapos, co-stars pa namin sina Raymond Bagatsing and Beauty Gonzales, so tinanggap ko na ito and I enjoyed doing it with all of them.”

Their director, Bobby Bonifacio, asked her to watch a DVD of the classic horror flick, “The Shining”, by Stanley Kubrick before they started shooting. “To help me prepare daw for our movie. Nagkamali ako kasi I watched it alone, e it’s really scary pala so natakot talaga ako. I think yung terror sa movie na yun, na-achieve din ng ‘Hellcome Home’, so don’t miss it when it opens in theatres on October 30.”

So how is it working with Dennis Trillo? “We play husband and wife in the movie kaya kami talaga ang laging magkaeksena. When I first met him sa shooting, sabi ko sarili ko, totoo bang siya ang kapareha ko? But it’s really such an honor to work with him. Magaling talaga siya so I’m pressured to also give my very best in all our scenes together.”

Her role became even more demanding since she plays not just a wife but also a mother.  “Yes, for the first time, I play a mother here kasi dalawa ang anak namin ni Dennis. In real life, I’m very much single, so I had to channel in my maternal instincts for my role as the mom of two kids.

"It’s not easy, but my most difficult scene in the movie is when ilagay nila ako sa harness at nakabitin ako sa ere for a long time. E, I’m afraid of heights pa naman kaya ang hirap talaga. Hindi ko puede i-reveal kung bakit ako kailangang ilagay sa harness, but it’s really one of the scariest scenes in the entire movie, so abangan nyo.”

Alyssa is one of the most promising new female stars introduced this year. She’s lucky because she also plays a meaty role in the teleserye “Pamilya Ko” as one of JM de Guzman’s leading ladies. “Masasabi ko talagang I’m so blessed kasi I not only get good projects but I also get the chance to work with our best actors today. I really want to thank ABS-CBN for giving me such good breaks.”

She’s a Kapamilya but her mom, Almira Muhlach, is a Kapuso and now plays a contravida role in GMA-7’s new afternoon soap, “Madrasta”. “Nakakatuwa nga dahil magkaiba kami ng network. But okay lang, trabaho lang naman ito and we both take it in good stride.”
