andre paras at viva films presscon for their 2020 projects |
ANDRE PARAS is at the Viva Vision 2020 presscon at Novotel on Tuesday and at the “Descendants of the Sun” presscon at GMA-7 on Thursday.
Andre has the height, the build, the good looks of a leading man, so we don’t know why he’s relegated to doing comic supporting roles like his role in “Descendants of the Sun”.
His first movie was ’Diary ng Panget’ that launched James Reid and Nadine Lustre to stardom in 2014. How does he feel now that James and Nadine have broken up?
“Of course, I feel very sad about it as I love them both,” he says. “We became very good friends because of that movie, which started my career, so I owe them a lot and I’m thankful to them. I just want them to know na what ever happens, I will just always be here for them.”
He’s happy to be part of a big project like “Descendants of the Sun”. “I play Ralph Vergara, a doctor, part of the medical team with sina Jennylyn Mercado, Renz Fernandez, Pancho Magno, Chariz Solomon and others.
"Ako yung kengkoy sa grupo namin, makulit, comic relief. We all trained sa V. Luna Hospital for our roles, how to do CPR, use a fibrillator, mga ganun.”
Some folks think he’s not in good terms with his mom, Jackie Forster, because he doesn’t post their photos together like his brother Kobe.
“No, my mom and I are okay, lalo na ngayon, she now lives here again. Hindi lang talaga ako mahilig mag-post. Maski yung friendship nga namin nina James, Nadine and also Yassi (Pressman), we go out as a barkada but hindi ko rin pino-post.
"Kasi sa social media, kahit anong pino-post mo, iba-bash ka pa rin, so wag na lang. Yung sa amin ng mom ko, sa amin na lang yun. It’s best to cherish our moments together without social media.”
Was his brother Kobe named after the late Kobe Bryant? “Yes, kaya nga we’re all very sad with his sudden departure. He loves the Philippines and he’s always here to visit us. All other players look up to him, kaya nga sobrang lakas ng impact niya as Black Mamba all over the world.”
Aside from “Descendants of the Sun”, Andre is doing a new movie that’s part of Viva Vision 2020 and the 34 movies that they will release this year. “Kasama ako sa movie na ‘You F Oh’, a play of words on UFO.
"I’m with Christian Bables and Marco Gallo, directed by new filmmaker Rod Singh (who did the award-winning Cinema One movie, “Mamu and a Mother Too”.)
“I really want to congratulate Boss Vic del Rosario and the entire Viva Family for their impressive lineup of projects. Viva Vision 2020 is really huge and mararamdaman ang impact sa buong industry. I can feel 2020 will be a really great year for all of us!”
