CARLA ABELLANA was last seen in “Pamilya Roces” more than a year ago. She got sick and her doctor made a wrong diagnosis, giving her steroids that damaged her liver, so she had to go to another doctor.
She spent a lot to recover and she’s okay now so she’s back on screen in GMA Telebabad’s new primetime drama, “Love of My Life”, that starts airing this Monday night.
“I gained weight because of the steroids then I also had hypothyroidism,” she says. “It turned out I don’t really need naman pala steroids kasi wala naman akong asthma but tachycardia or abnormal heart rate.
"Hindi na po ako nagdemanda, but I informed the doctor and showed him all the test results para alam niya. Such misdiagnosis really happens daw to some doctors, e. My liver is now back to normal.”
She’s happy to be back in a stirring drama like “Love of My Life”. “I play Adelle, owner of a small handicraft business. I’m a widow with a young son. Na-meet ko si Tom Rodriguez as Stefano and we fall in love, but ayaw sa’kin ng mother niya, Coney Reyes as Isabella Gonzales, who’s very controlling.
"Tom marries me despite his mom’s objections but things get complicated when he’s diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and his former girlfriend, Rhian Ramos, returns to his life kasama ang sarili nilang anak.
"Magsasama-sama kami sa isang bubong while Tom is sick at diyan na magsisimula ang matitinding conflict na mauuwi sa pag-aaway namin ni Rhian. Maraming emotional scenes and lovers of good drama will surely enjoy watching this.”
Everyone knows she and Tom have been officially on for sometime now. We heard Mikael Daez, who plays Tom’s younger brother, Nikolai, in “Love of My Life”, is cheering them on to also tie the knot soon, like what he and Megan Young just did.
“Naku, ayaw naman naming masabihang gaya-gaya lang kami sa kanila,” says Carla. “At saka hindi pa naman nagpo-propose sa’kin si Tom, e. As of now, happy kami as we are and we don’t need to rush.”
Tom says what’s important is that they are sure about their feelings for each other. He confirmed this when his father passed away and Carla stood by his side while he’s grieving and feeling low.
“Talagang nagbigay siya ng inspiration sa’kin the whole time na may pinagdaraanan ako,” he adds. “Even when my brother in law got sick, she was also there to help our family.”
