YASSER MARTA feels so blessed to be chosen as the leading man of Kyline Alcantara in GMA-7’s new Afternoon Prime soap, “Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit”.
“After I did ‘Love You Two’ where I was paired with Shaira Diaz, I thought it would take sometime before I’d be given another show,” he says. “So I’m really grateful na dumating agad itong ‘Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit’. Feeling ko, napakaswerte ko talaga, kasi andami naming nag-audition dito. Hindi ko akalaing ako ang mapipili nila.”
What does he think is the reason why he bagged the role? “I really don’t know. Siguro maganda na kasi ang working relationship namin ni Kyline. We’ve worked together before in ‘Kambal Karibal’ kunsaan magkaaway kami, sinampal pa niya ako. Dito, I was asked to do a scene with her sa audition at may nakita siguro silang kakaiba sa tambalan namin.”
Yasser, who’s half Filipino and half Portuguese, was discovered by GMA when he joined “Spogify’ in “Eat Bulaga” in 2016 when he was 18 years old. He was a grand finalist and was later made to join the all-male singing group One Up. He then got to try acting doing small roles in various drama anthology shows like “Magpakailanman”, “Wish Ko Lang”, “Maynila” and “Tadhana”.
“I’m really glad to be given the chance to do another regular soap, with Ate Guy pa in the cast at ang director pa namin, si Laurice Guillen,” he adds. “I play the role of Jun Santos, the carefree son of Zoren Legaspi and Ina Feleo. By chance, na-meet ko si Kyline, the daughter of Mylene Dizon, and I didn’t know we have the same father pala. So yun ang isa sa biggest conflicts sa love story namin. Salamat talaga sa GMA sa pagtitiwalang ibinigay nila sa akin and I promise na gagalingan ko lagi ang acting ko dito nang hindi ako mapahiya sa kanila.”
With his height of 5’10” and hunky physique which he got from constant workouts, there is no doubt that GMA is building him up as their newest heartthrob. How does it feel being part of a love team with Kyline?
“Okay naman kami ni Kyline at sa pictorial pa lang namin, andami raw kinikilig sa chemistry namin so, marami pong salamat. But Kyline has been quoted saying she wants to be independent and walang permanenteng ka-love team, so let’s see how we’ll go. It will all depend kung paano tatanggapin ng viewers ang tambalan namin.”
He’s just delighted that his friendship with Kyline has deepened now that they’re taping “Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit” regularly. “After we did ‘Kambal Karibal’, we lost touch, but now, lagi kaming nagkakasama, nagkakakuwentuhan, so we’re enjoying each other’s company sa taping ng bago naming teleserye.”
