JENNYLYN MERCADO and Dennis Trillo look so very much in love with each other at their “Co-Love” concert at New Frontier last Saturday night. They kissed twice in the course of the show, with Dennis professing his love for Jen in public, and the audience went wild.
No doubt it’s a big success and congratulations as it’s really an all sold out concert, with not a single seat vacant. And the whole crowd was evidently so pleased with the entire show and its line up of familiar love songs perfect for the Valentine season.
The show is divided into three chapters, chronicling the important episodes in the couple’s love life. Chapter 1 narrates how their relationship started on GMA-7. Chapter 2 is about the heartaches they went through when they broke up. “Baka nagkakilala lang kami noon sa maling panahon,” Jen tries to explain.
Chapter 3 is all about second chances and how they were able to move on and accept each other again. “Everyone deserves a second chance,” Dennis declares. “Mahal na mahal ko talaga ang taong ito,” he adds referring to Jen, “lalo na noong nagkabalikan kami.”
To which Jen replies: “May forever, kung gugustuhin lang natin.” Of course, the audience is just super kilig with their candid pronouncements of love for each other.
The show featured several guest performers, including Alex Gonzaga (who brought the house down with her hilarious antics), real life sweethearts Jerald Napoles and Kim Molina (who did songs from their hit stage musical, “Rak of Aegis”) , JK Labajo (who did his monster hit song, “Buwan”) and his band, Jay Durias, Nico Antonio, Nyoy Volante, Carlo Aquino and the last one was Alden Richards who sent the fans screaming and shrieking.
One guest didn’t make it, Janno Gibbs, and he’s replaced by Jen’s friend Nar Cabico in doing the “Moments of Love” number which is part of the repertoire. Since the show is an unqualified hit, we suggested to its producer, Atty. Joji Alonso of Quantum Films (which is celebrating its 16th anniversary with a retrospective of their films this weekend at UP Film Center), to schedule a repeat performance.
“Naku, ang hirap mag-produce, stressful ang marketing ng tickets,” she says. “Masuwerte lang kami kasi ang sipag magbenta ng tickets ni Becky Aguila (Jennylyn’s manager) and her daughter Katrina. Kinareer nila talaga.”
You can still watch the concert when they show it in GMA’s Sunday Night Box Office, but we’re sure the musical numbers of stars like Carlo Aquino, JK Labajo, Jerald Napoles and Kim Molina will be edited out as they’re from the Kapamilya network.
