JENNYLYN MERCADO is blooming at the launch of “Descendants of the Sun” that will replace “The Gift” starting February 10. Everyone who sees her is saying “ang ganda ni Jen ngayon. Magaling talaga mag-alaga si Dennis Trillo.”
When someone asked her if Dennis were the secret to her stunning beauty, Jen just laughed. “Wala naman pong sekreto. Masaya lang kasi ako talaga ngayon sa buhay ko. Lahat, positive. Bawal ang nega. Kapag masaya ka at positive, lalabas yun sa physical outlook po.
"Promise, happy lang po talaga ako these days. And yes, may kinalaman si Dennis diyan kasi happy kami ngayon sa relasyon namin. Panoorin nyo ang aming Valentine concert na ‘Co-Love’, sa New Frontier Theatre on Saturday, February 15.”
And why won’t she be happy? Both her love life with Dennis and her career are truly doing very well.
She’s so fortunate that right after she did “Love You Two” with Gabby Concepcion, she was quickly given a follow up project that pairs her for the first time with Dingdong Dantes, the local adaptation of the hit Koreanovela, “Descendants of the Sun”.
She plays Maxine or Doc Beauty, the love interest of Dingdong as Capt Lucas or Big Boss. So how is it working with Dong?
“We’ve worked na before as co-hosts sa Starstruck but this is the first time talaga na magkapareha kami. I have so much respect for him and I consider it an honor na makatrabaho ang Primetime King ng GMA who is really a good role model in terms of professionalism and even as a very responsible family man.
“Mahihirap ang eksena namin, lalo na those that involve some action and stunts, but he’s very helpful, aalalayan ka niya talaga. Nag-uusap kami lagi kung paano namin mapapaganda ang bawat eksena namin and I’m really enjoying working with him.
"Pinagpe-pray ko ngayong sana ay suportahang mabuti ng viewers itong unang tambalan namin sa ‘Descendants of the Sun’ at hindi naman kami mapapahiya dahil lahat kaming involved, along with Direk Dominic Zapata, we really did our best para mapaganda ang bawa episode ng aming show.”
Jen plays a doctor in the story and one of her nurses is Nicole Donesa, the current girlfriend of her first BF, Mark Herras. Was there any awkward women between them?
“Naku, wala. We’re all okay sa taping. Walang problema,” says Jen.
And Nicole herself attests to this at the presscon.
“Marami kaming scenes together ni Jen kasi I’m the nurse who assists her. I thought noong una, maiilang ako, but she’s really so nice to work with.
"Never naman naming napag-usapan si Mark. Basta masaya lang kami sa set and I really enjoyed working with her,” adds Nicole.
