RESPECTED BROADCAST JOURNALIST VICKY MORALES ALL SET TO BE THE 'ATE NG BAYAN' IN THE NEW REALITY SHOW, 'ILABAN NATIN 'YAN', THAT STARTS AIRING THIS SATURDAY AFTERNOON

VICKY MORALES is one of our most respected and admired broadcast journalists.

It’s hard to believe that she’s been almost 30 years in the business as she doesn’t look a day older than when we first met her when she joined GMA News Headline in 1991. She took up management in college then auditioned at GMA where she became a broadcast journalist.

She was still very much single then. Now, she’s married to Atty. King Reyno and the mother of twin boys, Leon and Luis, who’ll be turning 12 on March 19, and a daughter, Simone, who’s 8 years old. She juggles her time with work and being a wife and mother.

She did the late newscast “Saksi” for so long before being transferred to GMA’s flagship newcast on primetime, “24 Oras”. For 17 years now, she’s also been hosting the Saturday docu-drama, “Wish Ko Lang”, which has fulfilled the wishes of so many needy viewers in many tear-jerking episodes.

Vicky now takes on a new role as the “Ate ng Bayan” in her new show, “Ilaban Natin ‘Yan!”, that replaces “Wish Ko Lang” starting this Saturday afternoon.

In “Ilaban Natin ‘Yan!”, she will help people in conflict to settle or resolve their issues by reaching out to the grassroots in the barangays, tracing the source of their problems and encouraging them to make positive changes to make their lives better.

“Ilaban Natin ‘Yan!” is not the viewers’ typical public affairs show as it gives new flavor to “Serbisyong Totoo” through a traveling confessional called “Palaban Express”—a modern jeep that will go around various barangays where people from all walks of life can voice out their concerns.

The show then showcases the most interesting stories which will be brought to life by various Kapuso actors. The featured individual and all the concerned parties will be given the chance to discuss the issue at hand, right in the comfort of their own barangay. “Ilaban Natin ‘Yan!” will employ experts and resource persons who will help in resolving the conflicts.

“Ibang-iba siya sa mga dating ginagawa ko,” says Vicky. “Para sa atin lahat itong show na ito. Kapupulutan natin ng aral at matutuwa pa tayo. Hindi lang namin kayo pakikinggan, dahil kung anuman ang problema nyo, ilalaban natin yan!”

Ordinary Filipinos can definitely relate to the issues that “Ilaban Natin ‘Yan!” will feature such as social media and gaming addiction, teen suicide, sibling rivalry, inheritance disputes, juvenile delinquency, child support and custody battles, adultery and other problems.

On its first month, “Ilaban Natin ‘Yan!” tackles the travails of an abused wife being, of a paranormal expert bullied online, and a woman who’s getting grave threats.

Some of the Kapuso actors set to be special guests in upcoming episodes include Ruby Rodriguez, Anjo Yllana, Thea Tolentino, Anjo Damiles, and Ms. Jaclyn Jose.  Catch “Ilaban Natin ‘Yan!” every Saturday beginning February 22, after Tadhana on GMA-7.

Kapuso viewers from across the globe can also catch their favorite Kapuso shows via GMA’s international channels GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV, and GMA News TV International. For the program guide, visit www.gmapinoytv.com
