ROCCO NACINO’s ongoing romance with Jasmine Curtis Smith in “Descendants of the Sun” has gained a lot of loyal fans who are rooting for their romance as Moira and Diego.
“We were honestly surprised with the very warm reception that the viewers gave us,” says Rocco in a special lunch presscon hosted by GMA-7 for him and Jasmine. “Kami mismo nagulat pati sa reactions sa social media.
"Marami talagang nanonood ng show who sympathize with the forbidden love of the characters we play and are cheering us not to lose hope and to fight for our love.”
The love story of Rocco as Sgt. Diego and Jasmine as Capt. Moira is really very engaging as it’s a forbidden romance.
Moira has a higher rank and is also a doctor, so her dad, who’s a general, is against her love affair with Diego, who was told to avoid Moira because he belongs to a lesser social status. But Moira won’t accept it and continues to earnestly pursue Diego even if he’s doing his best to resist her.
“Talagang sinusubaybayan ng mga tao ang love story namin kasi kahit dun sa recent episode involving hopia and a handkerchief, grabe ang reaction nila,” adds Rocco. "Nag-click sa kanila nang husto."
So, will he as Diego eventually relent and defy Moira’s dad to reciprocate her love for him? “Of course, we cannot reveal that. Basta abangan nyo na lang.”
How is it working with Jasmine? “It’s so easy to relate with her. Three weeks pa lang ang show on the air but actually, seven months na naming tine-taping ito so we’ve become very good friends.
"We engage in a lot of small talk sa taping and friend ko rin yung boyfriend niya, si Jeff Ortega, na una ko pang nakilala sa kanya because I met him when we shot a movie ni Solenn Heussaff sa province nila, in La Union.”
How is his real life GF, athlete Melissa Gohing, reacting to his love team with Jasmine?
“She’s very supportive. Nagpo-post pa nga siya ng picture namin ni Jasmine from screen shots. Actually, noong mapanood pa lang niya ang original ‘Descendants’, naging fan na siya at siya pang nagsabi sa akin na, watch this, kamukha mo yung aktor dito. And little did I know na ako pala ang gaganap as him dito sa local adaptation.”
How’s the new house that he is having constructed in Antipolo? “Matatapos na. Finishing touches na lang. Labor of love talaga yun for me. Hopefully, makalipat ako roon in time for my birthday next month on March 21.”
So does that mean wedding bells will ring soon after he has moved to his own house? “Naku, after the expenses sa house, yan naman ang susunod na pag-iipunan ko, so matagal pa yan.”
