ALDEN RICHARDS is one of the stars whose business was adversely affected by the corona lockdown. He has three branches of his Concha’s Cafe and they’re all currently close.
“Noong una, yung branches namin sa Tagaytay and Cavite, naapektuhan ng ashfall ng pagputok ng Taal,” he says. “Ngayon naman, habang may lockdown, kailangang isara namin sila. Kawawa yung mga cooks & waiters working for us kasi wala sila kita but we help them naman sa abot ng aming makakaya.”
Alden has also stopped working for the two regular shows where he’s the regular host, the weekend musical variety show, “All Out Sundays” (but this can be seen on a no-contact online edition), and the singing contest-reality show “Centerstage”.
“Ganun talaga, we all have to make our own sacrifices habang may kinakaharap tayong ganitong world wide health crisis,” he adds.
In line with this, he made a public service announcement addressed to the general public. “The Department of Health is calling on us to be truthful and honest when we are being interviewed by doctors kung may COVID-19 tayo o wala.
"Very important po kasi. Please tell the whole truth in disclosing your travel history, possible exposure to the virus o meron kayong ibang taong nakasalamuha na infected ng corona virus.
"Kasi hindi lang po buhay ninyo ang maaaring mailigtas, makakapagligtas pa rin po kayo ng maraming kababayan natin para maiwasan ang pagkalat ng virus.”
Alden did the announcement upon the request of our medical frontliners who often encounter patients who lie and give them wrong information about their health conditions.
“Hindi po biro-biro o laro-laro lang ito,” Alden adds. “Dapat, totoo lahat ng data na ibinibigay nyo sa mga doktor para magamot din nila kayo sa tamang paraan.”
