THE FAMILY OF Carmina Villaroel and Zoren Legaspi is one of the most closely knit in showbiz. They have raised their twin kids, Cassy and Mavy well, and they’ve done a lot of endorsements together as a family.
Now that we’re all on compulsary quarantine, they all get to have more bonding time with each other as a family. Don’t they get bored at all?
“It’s all up to you naman kung mabuburyong ka lang sa bahay or you’ll make your free time more productive,” says Carmina, who hosts their Saturday family show, “Sarap, Di Ba?, with kids Cassy and Mavy. “Kanya-kanyang paraan lang naman yan para di ka maubusan ng ginagawa.
"For instance, ang mga bata they do TikTok to keep themselves busy and they post it sa internet at marami namang magandang feedback ang nakukuha nila sa ginagawa nila. It really helps to be living with your own family in trying times like this kasi hindi ka mababagot basta magkakasama kayo sa bahay.”
“Kami naman ni Carmina, we just had a cooking battle,” says Zoren. They posted this in social media and lots of folks expressed surprise that Zoren can also cook. “Oo naman, I can cook. I grew up in the States, di ba? So doon pa lang, nagluluto na ko on my own.
"Ngayon, what Mina and I do, we cook the same dish then we ask our children to be the judge and determine kung sino ang mas masarap na luto sa aming dalawa. Pinakahuli naming niluto is our own versions of bistek tagalog.”
So who won? “Iba-iba. Kung minsan, mas masarap daw ang luto ko. Kung minsan, yung sa kanya, kasi mas sanay naman siyang magluto sa ‘Sarap, Di Ba?’ every Saturday,” adds Zoren. “We just have to be more inventive all the time kasi pihikan ang taste ng mga judge namin, e. Ha ha ha!”
While we’re having the corona lockdown, Zoren is currently on leave from taping the hit GMA Afternoon Prime drama, “Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit”, where he plays Anselmo, the man who jilted Mylene Dizon and abandoned their daughter, played by Kyline Alcantara.
“Nagpapasalamat kaming lahat ng kasama ko sa ‘Bilangin’ sa napakagandang response ng viewers sa aming show,” he says. “Andami ngang nagsasabing nabitin sila. E, ganon talaga. Walang magagawa kasi stop taping kami. Pero abangan nila kasi as soon as matapos itong quarantine, we’ll be taping more new episodes for ‘Bilangin’. Nasasabik na rin nga akong mag-taping kami uli, e.”
So what precautions do they take to prevent virus infection? “Ako talaga, when I go out to buy things for our family, I make sure in full protective gear ako. Ipinakita ko nga ito sa Instagram post ko.
"Nang mag-grocery ako, hindi lang ako basta naka facial mask kundi naka-gloves din ako to protect my hands. Kasi hindi mo alam, baka may virus pala yung mahahawakan mo. I also have shades to protect my eyes kasi baka doon pumasok ang virus.”
He says people stare at him because of his outlandish getup.
“Pinagtitinginan nga ako ng mga tao kasi mukha akong bio medical scientist sa isang laboratory facility, pero okay lang. Better to be safe than sorry kasi you never can tell kung anong germs or virus ang masasagupa mo when you go out of your house.
"E, wala tayong kalaban-laban, kasi hindi natin sila nakikita as they’re not visible to the naked eye. Hindi mo alam, na-infect ka na pala. So dobleng ingat talaga ang kailangan.
"Pag-uwi ko nang bahay, hindi ko ipinapasok yung sapatos na ginamit ko at pati mga damit ko, ipinabibilad ko muna sa araw para kung may kumapit mang virus, mapatay agad with the heat of the sun. At ako naman, ligo agad to disinfect myself.”
