JERIC GONZALES achieved full stardom in his lead role as Jio, the man torn between wife Klea Pineda as Clarisse and his other woman, Sheryl Cruz as Veron, in the hit love triangle drama, “Magkaagaw”.
“Everywhere I go now, people address me as Jio,” he says. “Malaki talaga ang naitulong ng ‘Magkaagaw’ para magkaroon ako ng mas malakas na recall sa mga tao.
"Kaya ngayong stop taping muna kami habang may lockdown, ang tanong lagi sa’kin ng mga tao: ano na mangyayari sa inyo ni Clarisse? Maayos pa ba ang relasyon ninyo? Nabitin daw sila.
"So sabi ko naman, abangan nyo na lang po ang aming pagbabalik kapag nag-tape na kami uli ng bagong episodes dahil mas maraming pasabog na magaganap sa ‘Magkaagaw’ when we return.”
Jeric is a good singer and when he won in “Protege”, folks said he’s a complete package as he knows how to act, sing and dance well. So while we’re all in quarantine, he went back to singing, which he says is actually his first love.
In his social media account, Jeric shared a video of him singing while accompanying himself on the keyboards. He chose to sing the theme song of the Koreanovela, “Crash Landing on You”, titled “Song for Brother”.
“Gusto ko pa ring aliwin ang viewers even if we’re all just staying at home,” he says. “So, habang walang ‘Magkaagaw’, jamming muna tayo. I’m confident we will survive this virus crisis, with the Lord’s help.”
He’s very thankful to all those who sent him positive messages for his song number. “I’m glad nagustuhan nila. If they want me to sing another song, sabihin lang nila sa akin ang request nila and I will try my best para mapagbigyan sila.”
Temporarily replacing “Magkaagaw” in its Afternoon Prime slot is another love triangle drama, “Ika-6 na Utos”, which was such a big hit it ran on the air for more than a year. It stars Gabby Concepcion as Jerome, Sunshine Dizon as Emma and Ryza Cenon as the villainous Georgia.
