JAK ROBERTO is so glad to be back to work acting before the camera in tonight’s episode at 8 PM of “Magpakailanman”.
He will play the title role in “Dance King ng Quarantine: The DJ Loonyo Story." This will be the very first original episode to be shown in “Magpakailanman” since the lockdown started.
And “da who” is DJ Loonyo? He’s a well known dancer who gained his own following on the internet because of his dance videos. His real name is Rhemuel Lunio and he experienced being in China when the pandemic started there and gave a warning to Pinoys about the virus.
“I was so happy when they gave the role to me at ni hindi man lang ako nag-audition,” says Jak. “Nagtaka rin ako kasi I don’t really dance as well as DJ Loonyo, but they said they saw my TikTok videos with my sister (Sanya Lopez) at okay naman daw ang dancing ko.”
So how did he prepare for his role?
“I watched his vlogs, yung mga interview sa kanya to more know about him, how he does choreography and I also tried to copy his voice and the way he walks. Well, I really hope I was able to give justice to the role.”
In playing DJ Loonyo, what did he learn more about the dancer?
“Maganda yung personality niya. Very positive. As a dancer, nag-struggle talaga siya bago siya nakilala through his dance videos. Marami siyang pagsubok na pinagdaanan. Pero dahil sa kanyang determination, nakapag-perform siya sa ibang bansa, sa China, at nakilala sa pagsasayaw.”
How was it taping at the time of the pandemic?
“GMA made sure everything is safe. Lahat kaming kasama sa show, cast and crew, we were tested muna bago kami nag-taping. Lahat, sanitized sa set. The new normal. Mabilis ang trabaho.
"Nag-roll kami ng 9 AM, by past midnight tapos na. Magaling din si Direk Zig Dulay. Organisado siya, kaya mabilis lahat. Kasama ko rito sina Liezel Lopez, Lovely Rivero and Jong Cuenco.”
What’s the reaction of his inamorata, Barbie Forteza?
“Sabi niya, kilalang magaling sumayaw si DJ Loonyo kaya kailangan galingan ko rin daw ang pagsayaw ko. Sabi ko, kung kakapusin sa sayaw, babawi na lang ako sa acting.”
