CHERIE GIL and Gladys Reyes, both well known for playing contravida roles so effectively, have started giving acting classes online.
Cherie’s master class started last Tuesday and will have six sessions until July 18. She will share everything she has learned about acting in her 45 years in showbiz.
“I created my own syllabus,” she says proudly. “The acting lessons are very personalized and shinare ko du’n ‘yung aking sariling process. Hopefully, I’m able to productively engage my students.”
Among her students are Kapuso stars Barbie Forteza and Chynna Ortaleza who say they want to learn from her. The lessons are for a good cause as the proceeds will go for the benefit of the children of indigenous people.
“This is an extension of Yakap Sining and I decided to focus on Save Our Schools Network, the Lumads and the children of Mindanao,” Cherie adds.
“The class is open to aspiring actors who want to learn more about acting and for them to be able to do something productive while our lives are on hold due to the virus and the lockdown.”
Meanwhile, Gladys Reyes’ online acting workshop also started last Monday and will last until July 19.
“There are many students wanting to enroll, so hinati ko sila into three batches of ten participants each para matutukan ko sila ng husto,” she says. “Marami sa kanila, mga nanay ang nagi-inquire for their kids.
"Ang age requirement ko is 13 and above. Pero marami ring inquiries kung puedeng mag-acting workshop ang mga bata. It only goes to show na ang dami talagang gustong mag-artista.”
She will later feature her workshoppers in her own show on Net25, “Moments”. Gladys is really so active online these days. She also has videos showing her doing dance exercises with her daughter Aquisha.
