VICKY MORALES is glad that her long-running wish fulfillment show, “Wish Ko Lang”, will be back on the air this coming Saturday. She’s been hosting this docu-drama, that has been a habit for viewers every Saturday afternoon, since 2004. But after 16 years, GMA decided to replace it with “Ilaban Natin Yan”.
There’s no doubt,though, that the format of “Wish Ko Lang”, which brings hope and inspiration to people, is much better suited in these problematic times of the pandemic. A lot more people facing different kinds of crisis need help in this season of the corona lockdown.
“Talagang malapit sa puso ko ang ‘Wish Ko Lang’ as it has touched the lives of so many people,” says Vicky. “Thirty years na ko sa industry and anywhere I go, people ask me about it and I’m glad that finally, heto magbabalik na kami at marami tayo uling matutulungan na mga taong nangangailangan.”
For its special comeback presentation, the special guests are the stars of the hit afternoon soap, “Prima Donnas”: Elijah Alejo who plays the villainous Brianna and Chanel Latorre who plays Dindi, the best friend of Katrina Halili who betrayed her.
Chanel plays a construction worker in "Wish Ko Lang" and she was so scared when she was asked to do a dangerous scene in the episode where she's required to go up the top of a construction site.
"But I'm glad I was given the chance to work with one of our best female directors today, Director Sigrid Andrea Bernardo," she says. "Don't miss this episode as it is very touching. Maiiyak kayo."
The episodes of “Wish Ko Lang” for this month will be directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, the acclaimed director of “Huling Cha Cha ni Anita” and the hit romance, “Kita-Kita”.
The special theme song of the new “Wish Ko Lang” will be sung by two top divas who are both currently pregnant with their first babies, Aicelle Santos and Maricris Garcia.
“I got excited working with Maricis again,” says Aicelle. “But we collaborated without seeing each other because of the virus. Pareho kaming ni-record ang song sa aming sariling mga bahay tapos pinagsama na lang nila sa studio.”
“Nakakatuwa ang set up ng recording but you will surely enjoy the song,” says Maricris. “The lyrics are very well written and easy to understand the message that it imparts. The melody naman is so catchy kaya mae-LSS (last song syndrome) kayo after nyong marinig ito sa show.”
Vicky’s “Wish Ko Lang” will be shown back to back with Mike Enriquez’ special presentation in “Imbestigador” titled “COVID-19: Special Investigative Reports ni Mike Enriquez”. It will show you how the Covid virus and the three-month lockdown has so badly affected the lives of everyone, not only here in our country but worldwide.
