THE RATINGS OF the new TV5 shows that started last weekend are not yet that impressive, but TV5 execs say they didn’t really expect it to soar in the surveys overnight.
“It would be impossible to achieve a high percentage of ratings right away,” says TV5 programming head Perci Intalan. “Hindi kami nakikipagtapatan sa ibang networks. We just want to offer alternative new shows that viewers can also watch in their replays or on other digital platforms.
"And so far, we’re quite happy with the initial feedback our shows got, lalo na ang ‘Bangon Talentadong Pinoy’ ni Ryan Agoncillo that people say they really enjoyed watching because of its high entertainment value.”
Their other new shows that got good feedback include “Usapang Real Life with Luchi Cruz Valdes”, whose moving interview with KC Concepcion was really talked about even in social media.
The daily morning talk-variety show, “Chika Besh”, also elicited encouraging remarks from viewers who said its hosts, Pauleen Luna, Pokwang and Ria Atayde, have surprisingly good and fun chemistry with each other.
Their first guest was new mom Sofia Andres, who talked about her experiences in having a baby and being a young mother.
Pauleen says she’s very careful when it comes to safety protocols to make sure she won’t be a carrier of the virus who’ll transmit it to her husband Vic Sotto and their daughter when she goes home.
The first thing she does is to have a shower in their bathroom downstairs to make sure she’s clean when she goes to Vic and their baby, Tali, who stay upstairs.
“I really admire TV5 because they’re very strict with their safety protocols,” adds Pauleen. “But siempre, nakakatakot pa rin, so I make sure naka-mask ako, at lagi akong may bitbit na disinfectant for extra safety.
"But I enjoy doing ‘Chika BESH’ kasi nagkahulihan kami agad ng loob nina Ria and Mama Pokwang kahit first time lang namin makatrabaho ang isa’t isa. Naging comfortable agad kami with each other’s company at parang feeling namin, matagal na kaming magkakakilala.”
