ADRIANNA SO was discovered when she joined TV5’s Artista Academy.
She wasn’t really given any good breaks there but now, Perci Intalan of IdeaFirst Company, who’s also managing her, is making her play the title role in the very first GL (girls love) series, “Pearl Next Door”.
Adrianna was initially noticed as Pearl in the hit BL (boys love) series, “Gameboys”, where she played the perky best friend of Kokoy de Santos.
So you can say that “Pearl Next Door” is a spin off on “Gameboys” and they even have the same director, Ivan Payawal, but a different writer, Keavy Vicente, who wrote the movie “Distance” which proved to be prophetic as it also included Adrianna playing a lesbian character.
“Doing ‘Pearl Next Door’ is so exciting,” says Adrianna. “But also very challenging.
"Bago kasi yung material, so I’m still slowly trying to figure it out. Lahat ng involved sa show, including all my co-stars are all good and professional. And we have so many surprises, so I hope and pray that viewers will support it the way they did ‘Gameboys’.”
Supporting her in the show are Cedric Juan (also an IdeaFirst talent), Rachel Coates, Phillip Hernandez and Iana Bernardez, the daughter of Angel Aquino who also played a lesbian in the movie “Last Song Syndrome”.
Will a Girls Love series be as attractive to viewers as a Boys Love series? Well, that remains to be seen.
