JENNYLYN MERCADO will soon be back taping for the new drama anthology, "I Can See You", with beau Dennis Trillo and for the resumption of "Descendants of the Sun" with Dingdong Dantes.
But she is also back posting her feelings and opinions on social media. She stopped for a while after some writers made insinuations that it’s not really her writing her statements but a ghost writer. Now, she made a reply to a netizen who belittled single moms on Twitter.
It’s common knowledge that Jen herself is a single mom. She got preggy at 21 and her son Alex Jazz is now 12 years, the dad being Patrick Garcia who now has his own family. It’s good being an unwed mom didn’t ruin her career. She was able to bounce back and she’s now one of the prized properties of the Kapuso network.
This is what she wrote in defense of single mothers like her: “To all the single moms out there, never let comments like this get to you. Having a kid early doesn’t make you less of a woman. In fact it’s the opposite.
“Being a single parent made us stronger than ever. Mahirap maging nanay at tatay ng ating (mga) anak pero kinakaya natin. And for those people na minamaliit pa rin kami hanggang ngayon, I feel so sorry for you.
“Lahat ng mga kritisismo sa pagkatao namin nasabi na sa amin, and yet here we are. Raising our kids the best we can. Whatever you say, You can and will never bring a strong woman down. Kaya always hold your head up high. We are more powerful than they think we are.”
Other single mothers quickly supported her. One mom said she became a single mom because her husband died and she raised her kids by herself. But we don’t think she belongs to this league because she’s not really a single mom but a widow.
We think what’s being referred to are the unwed moms who gave birth outside of sacrament of matrimony. They can say they made a mistake when they indulged in premarital sex.
But let’s face it, it’s better for any human being to grow up in a conventional whole family than in a dysfunctional one.
Scientific studies show that most criminals, sociopaths and people with lots of hangups come from broken homes where kids did not get the proper guidance one would normally get from a complete family.
