TED FAILON had a tearful farewell when he appeared on “TV Patrol” and was heard on “Failon Ngayon” on his last day with ABS-CBN on August 31.
He’s been a Kapamilya for 30 long years and he says: “Kung sino ako ngayon, utang ko lahat yun sa kanila. Malalim at personal ang aming pinagsamahan.”
And now, he’s starting a new chapter in his life and career as a broadcaster with TV5. He just signed a contract with TV5’s radio station, Radyo5, last Friday, September 11.
Joining Ted is Czarina Marie Guevara, more popularly known as DJ ChaCha, an MOR 101.9 disc jockey and Ted's partner in his former DZMM program. Present at their contract signing were TV5's top executives Robert Galang, president and CEO, and Pierre Paul S. Buhay, vice president for Finance.
Ted's program will start airing on October 5. He is excited to return on air anchoring his own four-hour morning news magazine program.
“We are excited to deliver a paradigm shift on FM Radio. And we are thankful that Radyo 5 will give us the opportunity to serve the people with this one-of-a- kind format,” Ted says.
“Maraming, maraming salamat po sa Radyo 5 sa pagkakataon na ito. At sa lahat ng aming mga tagapakinig, mas gaganda ang inyong umaga dahil malapit nang mabago ang tunog ng FM Radio”.
Ted's stellar 30-year career as a broadcast journalist has earned him countless accolades as Best AM Radio Announcer and Best TV News Anchor.
He is the recipient of multiple Hall of Fame awards from organizations such as Anak TV and ComGuild Center for Journalism, while his radio program "Failon Ngayon" is the only Catholic Mass Media Awards Hall of Fame awardee for Best News Commentary.
Ted was also awarded the prestigious Ka Doroy Broadcaster of the Year by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster Sa Pilipinas.
On the other hand, DJ Chacha is hailed as the Queen of FM Radio with her own 12-year decorated career as a top DJ and social media influencer. Together, their tandem is unbeatable.
Ted’s foray into the FM scene promises to alter the radio news landscape with a morning broadcast that offers a healthy balance of hard news, social media features, and intelligent discussion, consistent with the journalistic ethos of News5.
