KHALIL RAMOS is now a Kapuso artist. He gained fame when, at the age of 15, he became first runner up to Marcelito Pomoy in ABS-CBN’s “Pilipinas Got Talent 2011”.
He then played major supporting roles in many teleseryes and movies, and Star Records also gave him his own songs and records.
But naturally, his Kapuso girlfriend, Gabbi Garcia, is rejoicing that they now both belong to the same network. She wrote this for him in her social media account: “Always proud of you, my love. Welcome to GMA, @TheKhalilRamos.”
They were paired last year in the movie “Last Song Syndrome” and we find it a well crafted and endearing musical romance using the songs of Ben&Ben. It’s just too bad that as an entry in the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, it failed to make waves.
So how is it to be a Kapuso?
“It's quite overwhelming,” he says. “Everyone I’ve met is very welcoming. I feel loved! The amount of support that I’ve been getting is very gratifying.
"I’m incredibly happy to be a Kapuso. I’m very much excited to be able to collaborate with such talented and skilled people. I can’t wait to meet everyone else.”
Now that he is a certified Kapuso, Khalil looks forward to portraying more challenging roles.
“I’d definitely want to take on roles that are acting pieces, like roles in a heavy drama series, or thriller and suspense roles as well.
"Comedy is also something I’d like to explore and I’d like to work with top Kapuso stars Alden Richards, Dingdong Dantes, Michael V., Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Janine Gutierrez, and Gabbi, of course.”
Khalil sings well, acts well (he’s very good in the indie drama “2 Cool 2 B 4Gotten” as a teener searching for his identity) and also has good breeding and PR compared to other young stars we’ve met.
We really wish him to succeed, but sadly, full stardom seems to elude him. Well, who knows? Maybe GMA could succeed in making him a big star, which ABS-CBN failed to do. Here’s praying GMA could really push his career to greater heights.
