MIGUEL TANFELIX is striking on his own in GMA-7’s live action version of “Voltes V: Legacy”.
“Voltes V” was a Japanese anime series in black and white first aired in the Philippines in the late 70s and became such a big hit with its catchy title song.
It even had a local movie that spoofed it, “Vontes V”, starring the late comedian, Chiquito, with four other top comedians of that era.
Miguel Tanfelix used to be identified as the other half of the Biguel love team.
But his partner Bianca Umali is now doing projects without him, like “Legal Wives”with Dennis Trillo and the HBO show “Half Worlds”, and it’s also common knowledged that, off camera, she is now canoodling with Ruru Madrid.
Miguel definitely deserves to be built up on his own as he’s one of the best looking guys in the Kapuso stable and he also acts well.
We hope his lead starring role as Steve Armstrong in “Voltes V” would help to truly boost his career as a solo actor.
“I’m so thankful to GMA for giving me a big trendsetting project such as ‘Voltes V’ and I feel so proud and excited as Steve Armstrong,” says Miguel. “I promise to give all my best and cooperate with Direk Mark Reyes to make this show very successful and a huge hit with the viewers.”
Joining Miguel in the cast as the other members of the “Voltes V team are Ysabel Ortega (daughter of Sen. Lito Lapid last seen in “The Gift”) as Jamie Robinson, the only female member of their team;
Radson Flores of Starstruck 7 as Mark; “Eat Bulaga” Spogfiy winner Matt Lozano as Big Bert; and child actor Raphael Landicho as the boy Little Jon.
Radson has matinee idol good looks and this is his biggest break since he joined “Starstruck Batch 7” where he’s just one of the finalists.
But now, he can claim that he has been given a very big project that not even male winner Kim de Leon has achieved yet.
“Sobrang salamat po talaga sa GMA sa pagtitiwala nila sa akin,” says Radson.
“Magkahalo ang kaba at excitement na nararamdaman ko at talaga namang ginagawa ko ang lahat sa training sa amin sa action scenes para di ako mapahiya sa GMA management for their trust in me.”
Matt Lozano is the son of singer Elaine Carriedo Lozano and he also sings well.
He can identify with his role as Big Bert because the character is basically a jolly person but also has a serious side. Matt used to struggle with his weight but since his role as Big Bert calls him to be big, then he doesn’t have to worry about his excess poundage at all.
Child actor Rafael Landicho is best remembered as the son of Max Collins in the hit afternoon series, “Bihag”. He is now so happy to be chosen as Little Jon after undergoing several auditions.
“Hindi po ako makapaniwala nang sabihin nilang ako ang nakuha bilang isa sa team ng ‘Voltes V’,” he says.
“Sabi ko, ang swerte ko naman, kasi ang costume ko pa lang, ang ganda na talaga. Enjoy na enjoy po ako sa taping namin at sure po akong magugustuhan ng viewers ang ‘Voltes V’, lalo na ng mga katulad kong bata rin.”
Playing the villains in “Voltes V: Legacy” are Martin del Rosario as Zardoz and Starstruck discovery Liezel Lopez as Zandra.
Martin gained fame and won acting awards for his flamboyant gay roles in “Born Beautiful” and “The Panti Sisters”. He now goes to the opposite end of the spectrum to show his versatility as the toxic leader of the Boazanian force, enemies of Voltes V.
Liezel Lopez is so lucky since, aside from “Voltes V”, she’s also a regular in the new soap “Babawiin Ko ang Lahat” that starts airing on Monday, February 22. As Zandra, known in Japan as Kazarin Ri, she is the sexy lover of Zardoz.
