DAVE BORNEA gets his biggest break as the leading man of Pauline Mendoza in GMA Afternoon Prime’s newest soap, ‘Babawiin Ko ang Lahat’.
He considers the show the best birthday gift as he celebrates his 25th birthday today, February 23.
He joined Startstruck Batch 6 and, although he didn’t make it as one of the top winners, GMA continued to give him supporting roles in their soaps and drama anthologies like “Alyas Robin Hood”, “Meant to Be”, “Sahaya”, “Magpakailanman”, “Tadhana” and “Dear Uge”.
He also became part of the boyband, One Up.
His patience paid off as he now plays the lead role of Randall in “Babawiin Ko ang Lahat”.
“I’m really thankful to GMA for giving me this good break,” he says. “After five years of doing supporting roles, nabigyan din ako sa wakas ng ganitong kalaking role.”
Dave is from Talisay, Cebu and when he decided to try his luck in showbiz, he has to stay in Manila on his own.
“Mahirap noong una kasi I have to pay my own rent and wala pa akong stable income. So tiis-tiis lang hanggang heto, nabigyan ako ng magandang role at ng regular income. I can say that I really rose from the ranks in working my way up.”
How is it working with Pauline Mendoza?
“Noong una, I didn’t really know her, so nangangapa pa. Pero dahil sa lock in taping namin on location sa Batangas, mas nakilala namin ang isa’t isa.
"Madali siyang pakisamahan kaya naging comfortable kami agad sa isa’t isa. Lalo na noong naging sunod-sunod ang tapings at eksena namin, mas naging solid ang samahan namin kasi napaka-professional niya.”
He feels fortunate that they got to work with very competent and capable senior co-actors like Carmina Villaroel, John Estrada, Neil Ryan Sese, Tanya Garcia and Jett Pangan.
“Lahat sila, puro mababait. Very approachable and helpful sila sa aming mga baguhang kasama nila sa show. Kami nina Pauline and Manolo Pedroza really learned a lot while working with them.”
