ALDEN RICHARDS is named Man of the Decade 2021 by a new award giving body consisting of netizens, called FNET Arts and Entertainment Critics Awards. Named along with him is Sarah Geronimo as Total Performer of the Decade.
But naturally, Alden’s diehard fans feel that he deserves the honor as he is really the most successful actor of the past decade after his movie “Hello, Love, Goodbye”, became the topgrossing film at the box office in the history of local cinema.
Alden will now be busy shooting his film with Bea Alonzo, “Pure Soul”, based on the Korean flick “A Moment to Remember”. This is a co-production between Viva Films, GMA Films and APT Entertainment. Both Alden and Bea were present at the its official launch.
The film is written by Mel Mendoza-del Rosario and directed by Nuel Naval, the same team that made the hit remake of the Korean film, “Miracle on Cell No. 7”.
Alden feels happy and thankful to be given the chance to work with Bea and with a project that will see the collaboration of no less than top three companies at the same time.
“I’ve worked with Bea in a TV commercial before and it’s such a pleasant experience, so I really prayed hard na sana, we'd be given the chance na makagawa kami ng isang movie together,” he says.
“Now, it’s an answered prayer. This is also my first remake, and I’m sure there will be a comparison sa original source. But I’m confident that our writer and director will inject original Filipino values in the material.
"As actors, what Bea and I want is to do our own take on how we understand our respective roles. Ang ganda ng material, sobra. It’s the story of a young couple whose relationship is tested when one of them is afflicted with early onset Alzheimer’s disease.
"Kung tapos na ang pandemic at babalik na ‘yung cinemas, it’s really meant for the theaters kasi mas madarama mo ‘yung ganda ng istorya when you watch it sa big screen.”
So this Sunday, Alden won’t temporarily be seen in “All Out Sundays” this lunchtime, although he’d be seen in “Centerstage” in the evening as he has done some advanced work for them. Fans have already noted that he’s also missing in action in “Eat Bulaga”.
