CIGNAL ENTERTAINMENT partners with Regal Multimedia in producing “Gen Z”, an exciting new young adult series'
This will help vierwers to get to know and comprehend better the fearless world of today’s younger generation, their dreams, aspirations and struggles to find their own place in the sun.
“Gen Z” has a young and talented cast led by Jerome Ponce, Jane Oineza, Ricci Rivero, Melizza Jimenez, Chie Filomeno, Kent Gonzales and Darwin Yu.
Jerome and Darwin are also currently in the cast of Regal’s BL web series, “Ben X Jim”. Jerome as Jojo and Kent (the son of Sharon Cuneta in “Kuwaresma”) are brothers.
Playing their friends in their barkada are Jane as Matet, Darwin as Rico, Chie as Gina, Ricci as Migo and Melizza as Michelle.
Jerome says he enjoyed doing the show as it’s about young people who want to understand other people and also want other people to know them better.
“Maraming makaka-relate dito kasi it’s about love, friendship, growing up, facing up to bigger responsibilities as you mature. and also learning to cope with problems and with people you find hard to get along with,” Jerome adds.
“Ako mismo, I had a gap with my dad before, kasi he wants me to finish my studies and not join showbiz.
"So for about a year, we had a gap, but when he saw how much I enjoy what I’m doing at may pinupuntahan naman ang career ko, we got to relate with each other better.”
“Yun and maganda sa ‘Gen Z’, kasi it tackles the different dynamics in a family,” says Jane.
“It shows young people how you can improve your relationships with your parents, with your siblings, and with your friends.
"The first thing is for you to open yourselves up to the people around you and welcome new experiences. Kasama rin namin dito playing our parents sina Joey Marquez, Angeli Bayani and Teresa Loyzaga.”
Generation Z refers to young people who are 13 to 22 years old and are born into today’s social media environment and all the new technologies available today like smart and android phones, tablets and other gadgets.
They come after Millennials who are 23 to 38 years old while Generation X is from 39 to 54 years.
Those above that are called the Baby Boomers. So this new show will try its best to bridge the gap between the various generations.
The writers of “Gen Z” are former students of Director Joey Reyes at the College of St. Benilde, so they surely know what they are writing about.
They come up with authentic characters with their shared values that make “Gen Z” one of the most worth-watching programs this year.
All the cast members say that they have become really good friends while they are taping the show.
Parents and elders should also watch “Gen Z” as it will give them the chance to get a look into the world of today’s young people and understand their concerns better, making this a truly trendsetting and groundbreaking show that will serve as a bridge connecting various generations for better understanding.
