ANDREA TORRES finally broke her silence after Derek Ramsay involved her parents in his efforts to defend himself for breaking up with her.
In effect, she says she cannot understand his motive in mentioning her parents about their breakup when she herself kept quiet all the time to make it all very private. This is her declaration:
“I don’t really see the significance of discussing details in public.
"I honestly have a different memory of what transpired and who ended it, but I think it is not worth my time and energy to explain, because it will only turn into a ‘he said, she said’ thing. What good will come out of it?
“All the while, I have just been focused on myself and what is happening in the world. For as long as I am at peace with God and myself and I can truly say that I have chosen to be a better person, then I am fine and I have moved on. It’s been months. What’s the point?”
Then she adds more meaningfully: “If he truly respects me and my family, then let us just have our peace.”
Andrea says she has been unattached since they broke up five months ago, whereas Derek quickly hooked up with Ellen Adarna and now, after only two months, he has proposed to her and they are about to get married.
But unlike Derek who is jobless, Andrea has taped for a new GMA Telebabad drama series, “Legal Wives”, where she plays Diane, the Christian wife of Dennis Trillo who plays a Muslim with two other wives.
Andrea adds: “Actually, wala namang pinagkaiba kung ano ako noong single ako at kung ano ako noong nasa isang relationship ako. I’m still the same person. It’s just now, mas may focus na ako sa sarili ko.
"Binibigyan ko muna ang sarili ko ng pagkakataong makapag-isa para next time na may dumating, ready na ako for a new relationship.
“Basta as of now, I’m trying new things para mas makilala ko rin ‘yung sarili ko. Baka meron pang mga hobbies na hindi ko pa na-e-explore and I want to try them.
"Palagi naman akong may goals, ‘di nawawala ‘yan para, at least, kapag gumigising ka sa umaga, there’s always something to look forward to, ‘di ba?
“Ang goal ko ngayon talagang gusto kong magkaroon ng bahay at lupa para sa sarili ko. Gusto kong makapag-travel pa, gusto ko makapag-travel alone din na hindi ko pa nata-try, na medyo takot pa akong gawin.
"And siyempre, ‘yung mga dreams ng family namin, ng parents mo o ng siblings mo, gusto mo rin maging part ng mga dreams nila. Sana mabigay ko ‘yun sa kanila.”
Obviously, most netizens sympathize with Andrea.
As one of them told her: “You should still be thankful to the Lord dahil iniligtas ka Niya sa kapamahakan bago nahuli ang lahat. Makakatagpo ka rin eventually ng isang lalaking mas nararapat para sa iyo and will not break your heart.”
