GABBY CONCEPCION has reason to be proud of his current GMA Telebabad show, “First Yaya”, as it’s his biggest hit so far.
His previous shows with younger leading ladies like “Because of You” with Carla Abellana, “Love You Two” with Jennylyn Mercado and “Ika-5 Utos” with Sunshine Dizon and Ryza Cenon, also rated well, but still not as successful as “First Yaya” that is consistently rating 20 percent plus on primetime.
“Nagpapasalamat kami ni Sanya Lopez sa lahat ng regular followers ng ‘First Yaya’ at sa lakas ng suporta nyo sa amin,” he says.
“Even the GMA management is very happy dahil pati ang replay ng previous episodes noong Holy Week also rated well.”
Why does his shows paired with younger actress all click with the viewing public?
“I really can’t tell, but I always make an effort na makapa ko muna kung ano ang magki-click sa amin to help our chemistry. Siguro it’s a brew, a combination of various elements.
"Lahat naman sila, magagaling. Lahat, na-enjoy kong katrabaho. Si Sanya, nagtiktok kami. Sayaw-sayaw. Natural talaga si Sanya. Wala siyang front to just put her best foot forward. Kaya maganda ang working relationship namin.”
Gabby is now the only remaining actor in his generation of Regal Babies who continue to play lead roles.
William Martinez only appears occasionally while his brother Albert now plays only father and villain roles.
Even their female co-stars, Dina Bonnevie, Maricel Soriano and Snooky Serna, now play mother roles, unlike Gabby who still gets paired with much younger stars. To think there was a time Gabby was absent for so long when he stayed in the States.
Gabby’s latest leading lady, Sanya Lopez, is only 24 years old, more than double his age as he’s 56.
Sanya is even much younger than even his eldest daughter, KC Concepcion, who is now 35 years old and still very much negotiable.
Speaking of KC, Gabby posted a picture of him with his daughter last Holy Week.
It seems like they spent it together as his caption says: “Spend quality time with the people who matter the most to you, specially those close to your heart.”
Meanwhile, we’re not surprised that GMA’s shows are doing very well since the station is very generous to its talents.
In the spirit of Serbisyong Totoo, specially when it comes to the health and safety of its workforce, the Kapuso Network announced on Tuesday, March 30, that it is purchasing doses of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccines for its workers and talents.
This is also in line with the government’s vaccination program and its efforts to fight the pandemic in the country.
