JASMINE CURTIS SMITH is thankful that AlDub fans who used to bash her vehemently for being paired with Alden Richards have stopped doing so.
“I think they realized that actors should grow and expand their horizons by being paired with other stars and not just their usual ka-love team,” she says.
“E, ako naman, I don’t allow myself anymore or my work with Alden to be affected by such bashings. Hindi naman makakatulong kasi nga negang-nega lang ang dating.”
Jealous Aldub fans say that based on the trailer of “The World Between Us”, it looks like she and Alden are really now in love with each other.
“Ay, did they notice?" she laughs. "Yes, it’s true, Alden and I are in love, but not with each other.
"We’re in love with the epic romance told in ‘The World Between Us’ and with the memorable characters that we play in it. That makes the chemistry between us much more easy to feel for the audience kasi mas intense ang kilig factor.”
So how is it doing a full season teleserye with Alden?
“It’s common knowledge we did a movie, ‘Imagine You and Me’, na suporta lang ako, and an episode in ‘I Can See You’, and yes this is our first long teleserye together na lock in pa ang taping.
"Our experience in our past shows helped a lot to build a good foundation para mas maging madali ang pagsasama namin ngayon here in ‘The World Between Us’.
"I’m thankful to be given the chance to work with him here, kasi it’s really fun as Alden is so easy to work with, along with all our co-stars in the show and our director, Dominic Zapata.”
Jasmine is happy to be be given the opportunity to get to work with two acclaimed veteran actresses in the show: Dina Bonnevie as her mother and Jaclyn Jose as their rich family’s most trusted “mayordoma”. Both of them have nothing to say but good words for Jasmine.
“She is very passionate actress, very professional,” says Dina. “Wala siyang arte sa set at agad niyang nakukuha kung anuman ang gustong ipagawa ni Direk Dominic sa kanya sa eksena.”
As for Jaclyn, she says all of them involved in the show recognize Jasmine’s competence in front of the camera.
“She’s a real actress, a very good actress,” says Jaclyn. “In her character as Lia, nakuha niya ito nang buung-buo. This is my first time to work with her and napabilib niya ako sa acting niya.”
Jasmine is overwhelmed by the praises she got from her respected co-stars.
“Kumpara sa kanila, baguhan pa lang ako sa industry and I am really thankful to get the chance to work with them. I always keep my mind open and I take into heart whatever words of wisdom they impart to me kasi alam kong marami akong matututuhan sa kanila.”
Some folks have noticed she no longer posts photos of her BF Jeff Ortega of La Union, making them conclude that she’s now single.
“Teka,” says Jasmine, “may nagsabi bang single nga ako? Hindi lang ako nagse-share ng kuwento tungkol sa personal life ko sa social media, kasi mas gusto ko na lang na ang pag-usapan, ang mga project ko, hindi ang love life ko.
"Para matuwa naman sa akin ang mga nakakatrabaho ko na mas binibigyan ko ng importancia and highlight ang ‘The World Between Us’, lalo na nga’t malapit na itong mag-start umere starting this Monday, July 5, at 8 PM after ‘24 Oras’.”
