APT ENTERTAINMENT executive and resident director, Mike Tuviera, is optimistic that BuKo as a comedy channel will hit it big with viewers who want all day fun and all night feel-good entertainment.
“We Filipinos thrive in humor,” he says.
“We find laughs in everything we do. It’s our way of looking at the bright side of life.
"In other countries, you can easily watch old comedy shows but dito sa atin, archiving for television was poorly done. So now, some of our favorite shows before have disappeared already, lost forever.
“Kasi we were not conscious then to save them for other platforms where they can put old episodes para balikan ng audience. So now, we have a home for really good comedy content, some classics, while some are original.
"We add to our programming some original shows exclusive to BuKo. We’re doing a lot of first here as the new home of original Filipino comedy.”
Aside from Maine Mendoza’s reality show, one of their new shows is a cooking show hosted by Pokwang, ‘Kusina ni Mamang’.
“She really loves to cook, so she now has her own cooking show, but we’re giving her show a twist,” adds Direk Mike. “She will be teaching the younger generation older techniques of traditional dishes.
"The younger chefs kasi, it wasn’t pass on to them, puro bagong recipes ang ginagawa nila, so gusto ni Mamang Pokwang na itawid ngayon yung traditional recipes sa mga kabataan and she’ll have younger stars with her para matikman nila ang luto niya.
"Food education kasi ang advocacy niya, dishes that are delicious but more nutritious. She’s also injecting some comedy while cooking kaya nakakatawa siyang panoorin.”
Aside from these BuKo originals that also includes “Kwelang News Patrol, mga Patolang Balita”, they’ll also have “Tawang Pinoy Klasiks” and “Throwback Tawanan”.
The first will feature well-loved Pinoy comedy classics like Iskul Bukol, Wow Mali, Bubble Gang, OGAG, Loko Moko, Tropang Trumpo, and other comedy TV hits.
In Throwback Tawanan, they offer hit comedy shows like Pidol’s Wonderland with the late Comedy King, Celebrity Samurai, Mac and Chiz, Sugo mga Kapatid and more.
