JOEM BASCON just did a recent film with Lovi Poe, “The Annulment”. Now, they’re together again in “The Other Wife”, now the number one movie in Vivamax streaming channel.
What’s the difference between the two?
“When 'Other Wife' was first offered to me, I said, kagagaling lang namin ni Lovi sa ganung movie, a,” he says.
“But after I read the script, I realized na iba ito, kasi lahat ng anumang expectations ng viewers, binali ng movie na ito.
"‘The Other Wife’ is very different from ‘The Annulment as the problems we face in ‘The Other Wife’ are very, very different.
"Mas crazy ito, mas dark ito. More on crazy love. Mental struggle ito ng mag-asawa. During the quarantine, maraming anxiety tayong pinagdaraanan, so makikita nyo yun dito. You will fall in love with all the characters here.”
Can he identify with his character who has two wives?
“Iba yung husband dito, very supportive siya sa wife niya, pero I cannot explain it here as it will spoil the movie. In real life, mapagbigay ako pagdating sa love.
"Cool lang ako outside, but very intense inside. Nasu-surprise ako what I am capable of doing for the love of my partner.”
How would he describe his experience in the pandemic?
“Nahirapan ako last year kasi walang work, nasa house lang ako the whole time. So nang dumating itong ‘The Other Wife’, I’m very grateful na nagka-work ako.
"And I’m really glad to be working para may ibang tao ka namang nakakausap uli. I also have adrenalin rush when I am playing another character.”
How is it working with Lovi and Rhen Escano?
“It’s easy to work with Lovi kasi nagkatrabaho na nga kami. Si Rhen, first time namin to work with her, but naging kaibigan din namin agad siya sa shooting, so that made our work easier.
"Challenge itong movie na ito sa amin kasi kaming tatlo lang ang characters, tapos puro mabibigat pa ang mga eksena, so nagtulong kami with our director, Prime Cruz, on how we’ll be able to pull it off.
"Judging from the feedback sa mga nakapanood na nito sa Vivamax, mukhang naitawid naman namin nang maayos.”
It’s common knowledge he’s now a dad after Meryll Soriano gave birth to their love son named Guido. So how is it being a father?
“Ayun, nag-aalaga ako ng baby namin. Masaya ang buhay.”
Any wedding plans?
“None as of now. We’re enjoying our baby muna and we appreciate each milestone he makes like when her first ate solid food, noong dumapa na siya at gumapang.”
How is he getting along with Meryll’s dad, Willie Revillame?
“We’re okay. Natutuwa siya kay Baby Guido kaya lagi namin siyang dinadalaw para makita niya ito.
"I call him Sir Wil kasi yun na ang nakasanayan ko, e. He’s very helpful sa maraming tao.
"Mabait siya sa pamilya, lagi niya kaming binibigyan ng advice at tulong, so I want to thank him for all his help to us.”
