ABDUL RAHMAN paired with SHAYNE SAVA in GMA-7's 'LEGAL WIVES'
ABDUL RAHMAN plays Hamad in “Legal Wives”, he’s a poor boy and his love for Shayne as Jamilla is a forbidden one since she comes from a rich, royal family.
“I’m so thankful to GMA for giving us this big break in a series as impressive as ‘Legal Wives’,” says Abdul who’s very articulate in English.
“I really felt like, wow, the stars are aligning for us. But at first, I was intimidated sa big stars na kasama namin, pero my desire to show my talent got the better of me and I just gave it all my best.
"I want to show everyone that I am taking my craft very seriously.”
Abdul’s mother is Pinay and his dad is an Arab. He was born in the United Arab Emirates and he was nine when they came home to the Philippines.
He is now happy to be cast in a show that aims to make viewers understand more about Muslims, its culture, its religion and its people. He hopes this will help foster harmony among all Filipinos. But will he also practice poligyny?
“As a Muslim myself, I was raised in a Muslim country and I know people who practice it. The common misconception is everyone should do it, but we’re not really compelled to marry up to four wives.
"It’s a matter of choice. If ever a man makes that decision, he needs to provide the same equal amount of love to every single wife. I can say for certain na, personally, wala akong balak magkaroon ng multiple wives.
"Makokontento na ako sa isa. I want to consider the feelings of my wife and besides, I don’t think I can sustain having many wives.”
How is it being paired with Shayne Sava?
“Una pa lang, I found her cute na sa Starstruck. Then nang nagkakausap na kami, we got along fine sa our conversations and I found out mahilig siya sa poetry, so I found her very interesting.
"Then we were paired in some acting exercises and we clicked right away, so I’m happy that we’re now working together.”
Abdul attended the presscon of “Legal Wives” while his mom was still confined in a hospital? What happened to his mom?
“My mom had a stroke and there’s a blood clot sa right side ng brain niya. I’m happy na at least, bumalik na ang eyesight niya. But the doctor says the stroke might affect her behvior.
"We don’t know yet as to when siya mare-release, so we’re all asking for prayers for her healing. At siempre aalagaan ko siyang mabuti, kasi siya ang mother ko.”
