MIKAEL DAEZ just renewed his contract as a Kapuso. He was last seen in the hit GMA primetime soap, “Love of My Life”, which is now being shown on Netflix.
“I started with GMA 11 years ago and it’s been a fruitful stay for me,” he says.
“As a whole, it was a great learning experience and GMA helped me grow not only as a person but also in my craft as an actor.
"Renewing my contract with them makes me extremely happy. It shows that GMA is continuously willing to invest and take a chance on me and I’m very thankful for that.”
GMA exec Lilybeth Rasonable says she admires Mikael’s growth as an actor.
“Congratulations on your renewal and of course, we're very happy to have you again as a Kapuso, hopefully for a long time, still. I just want to say how proud I am of you. I always remember the first time I met you and you know that story.
"But through the years, I think I can say that I am among the proudest to see how you have grown especially with this last project, ‘Love of my Life,’ where you really showed how much you have learned throug the years. Talagang we were so impressed with your performance there.”
Mikael and wife former Miss World Megan Young tied the knot in January last year, just before the pandemic. They still do not have a baby and it’s their choice.
“We felt it’s difficult to start a family at this time, so heto, ine-enjoy muna namin being a newly married couple and having our own vlog.
"Maybe sa 2022 na lang, when the health crisis is over at hindi na nakakatakot magpunta-punta sa hospital for checkups kung magbe-baby na.”
For a while, they thought of living in Subic.
“We were able to buy some property there kasi parang masarap ang buhay away from the big city that Manila is.
"Kaya lang because of the pandemic, we felt na it’s still more practical to stay here because of the quarantine restrictions.
"Kung malayo kami, mahihirapan lang kaming magbiyahe because we have to get the right permits pa.”
They still live in their own condo unit.
“We just put up our own mini-studio para magamit namin in taping the contents for our vlogs. At yun, so far, okay naman ang reception sa entries namin, so we’d like to thank all those who subscribe to us and watch our vlog.”
GMA has already told him about his next project and he’s excited about it. “But hindi pa puedeng i-reveal ang details. Later na lang, kapag launching na.”
Who would he like to be paired with?
“Megan says dapat, si Heart Evangelista since I haven’t worked with her yet, kaya lang may bagong show na siya. I’d also like to work again with Lovi Poe.
"But GMA has a lot of new and younger talents na very talented din and I’d also like to try working with them. Open naman ako to all kinds of possibility, so let’s see what the future holds for me in my new contract with GMA.”
