BARBIE FORTEZA stars in the episode “My Birthday Wish” in this Sunday’s “Regal Studio Presents” and she is paired with new Kapuso star Royce Cabrera as her leading man, James.
They are supported by Sarah Edwards as Cherry, her best friend; VJ Mendoza as Jules, her boss, and Julian Roxas as Henry, the villain in the story who is actually secretly in love with Barbie and has a hidden agenda.
The episode is written and directed by Easy Ferrer.
“I’m happy to be back with Regal,” says Barbie. “Nine years old pa lang ako, naging child actress na ako sa isang episode ng ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll’.
"Then nang nag-teenager ako, I starred in the movie ‘This Time I’ll Be Sweeter’ with Ken Chan, directed by Joel Lamangan.
"So now, I’m glad na ang ganda ng story na binigay nila sa akin para sa una kong guesting in ‘Regal Studio Presents’.”
Barbie plays Joanna, a sad and bitter woman in her mid-50s who feels she's a failure in life and yearns for her lost youth.
Through a magic tree, she is given a second chance to correct her past mistakes. Her birthday wish to get back to her past is granted and she becomes young and perky again.
“It’s a feel good story, pero may kirot sa puso,” adds Barbie.
“I’m very proud of this episode and I had fun doing it. First time ko to work with Royce and okay siya, marespeto, magaling siya.
"We had a difficult scene in the show na mahabang tuhog ang kuha, so para take one lang, I requested that we all memorize not only our lines but also the whole blocking for the long take ni Direk Easy. Awa ng Diyos, naitawid naman namin nang maayos.”
What can she say that she’s been mentioned so often in the writeups about her boyfriend Jak Roberto’s new show, “Never Sa Goodbye”.
It’s said she got so jealous of his leading ladies, Klea Pineda and Lauren Young, and some folks think she’s just being used to help promote it?
“Okay lang naman po yun, natutuwa nga ang JakBie fans. Basta makakatulong for their show.
"Ang maganda, very positive ang reviews sa show nila and I’m very happy for Jak and all of them.”
