CINDY MIRANDA is thankful that this year, despite the pandemic, she is able to do three movies. “Nerisa” and “House Tour” are still streaming on Vivamax and now, she has a new movie coming up, “My Husband, My Lover”.
She plays a lawyer, Loida, who becomes the lover of a separated man, Marco Gumabao as Noel, and they have many steamy scenes together.
“When I read the script, sobrang dami ng love scenes, so I had apprehensions about doing it,” she says.
“So I had a long talk with our director, Mac Alejandre, at naipaliwanag niya talaga nang maayos ang requirements niya and it’s very reassuring.
"Unang-una, this is an adult movie, naiibang kuwento for more mature audiences. It explores the boundaries of marriage.”
Her co-star in the film, Kylie Versoza, had to ask the permission of her boyfriend, Jake Cuenca, before doing the film. How about her?
“Sa akin, wala namang magagalit dahil wala akong lovelife, except my family. But they understand my work and Direk Mac handled all the scenes really well and I just trusted him.
"The script is by Ricky Lee at maganda ang treatment so I’m sure well be proud of this film.”
Her character, Loida, experiences heartbreak when her man, Marco, returns to his wife, Kylie.
“Yes, si Loida is a lawyer na napakatalino, pero pagdating sa love, puso talaga niya ang umiiral. Sobra ang pagmamahal niya sa isang taong nagmamahal naman sa iba at hindi masuklian ang pagmamahal na ibinibigay niya.
"I can relate with my role kasi it has happened to me before. Masakit yun. On the outside, people think okay ka but deep inside, wasak na wasak ka pala.”
She enjoyed doing all the dramatic scenes in the film.
“Kasi, siempre, ayaw mo magsawa ang tao sa ginagawa mo. Sasabihin nila, ayan, maghuhubad na naman yan, love scene na naman. It’s true, but ito kasi, kakaiba talaga ang story.
"When I read the script, ibang-iba ito sa usual kabit films in local movies. You’d ask kung may ganito ba talaga?
"Sobrang happy ako I got to play this role I wish I’d be as strong as Loida, my character, when such a situation na hinarap niya will come to me.”
When she did “Nerisa” with Aljur Abrenica, she was bashed when some folks thought she’s the reason why his marriage to Kylie Padilla crumbled.
“Yes, nalait ako. But I feel vindicated kasi, later on, lumabas namang sila pala ng co-star namin doong si AJ Raval ang talagang naging close while we’re doing the movie.
"Ako kasi noon, I just isolated myself to focus on my role. Lumalabas lang ako kapag take na. But I wasn’t really affected by the bashing kasi alam ko naman kung ano yung totoo.
"Yung family ko lang, nasaktan sa nababasa nila sa social media.”
So she had no idea that romance was brewing between Aljur and AJ while they were in Alabat Island for the shoot?
“Honestly, hindi ko talaga alam. Kasi nga I kept to myself dahil sobrang bigat ng role ko, so I didn’t get to spend time with my co-actors.
"Nagulat din ako when I learned sa social media na may something pala sila. Sana, kung ano man yung gulo ngayon na pinagdaraanan nila, maayos nila kasi kaibigan ko sila.”
Since “My Husband, My Lover” that will stream on Vivamax on November 26, is about infidelity, will she be willing to forgive an erring partner?
“In real life, makakaya kong magpatawad kasi very optimistic akong tao.
"Kapag mahal mo talaga ang isang tao, makakaya mong magpatawad at tanggapin siya uli ng buong-buo. Yes, I can forgive and forget.”
