KELVIN MIRANDA is surely now one of the fair haired new Kapuso boys.
After being paired with Mikee Quintos in the GTV fantasy-romance, “The Lost Recipe”, he was quickly paired with Beauty Gonzales in the GMA romantic drama “Loving Ms. Bridgette” that really rated well.
Folks say that his team up with Beauty seems to have been a bigger hit than his team up with Mikee Quintos. How does he feel about this?
“Yes, I can feel na mas maraming nanood ng ‘Loving Miss Bridgette’ kasi after it, mas maraming nakakakilala sa akin,” he says in a zoom presscon.
“Parang naging leading man na talaga ang dating ko. Siguro because it was shown on GMA while ‘Lost Recipe’ was shown on GTV.
"Pero marami ring naging fans ang love team namin ni Mikee at ang dami ngang nagre-request na magkaroon ng Book Two yung aming show.”
So would he rather be paired with Mikee or with Beauty?
“Actually, I don’t want to be stuck with just one partner lang. Gusto ko ma-explore na sana, mabigyan ako ng chance na makapareha ang ibang stars. I want to work with other stars as I know may matutuhan ako sa kanila.
"Kasi nagsisimula pa lang ako. I’m an introvert before, mahiyain talaga ako noon. Nahihiya akong tumingin sa ibang tao. Pero ngayon, dahil sa exposure ko, mas nasanay na.”
He is now given the chance to record his first single by GMA Music with the song “Slow Dance”.
The romantic song by Jomari Felices Jintalan is about two people who magically move from being friends to lovers after attending their prom night.
“I dedicate this beautiful song to all my supporters and to everyone who’s in a relationship and want to find hope and inspiration,” he says.
“It’s funny but I never attended our own prom night in school kasi wala akong perang pambili or pang-arkila ng formal suit.”
He adds that song is not just for lovers.
“Everyone can relate with it. It’s something you can dedicate to your family and friends.
"I hope this song will provide hope to all of us that someday, we can all go out and bond together again when this pandemic is over, then we will all do a slow dance to celebrate life.”
So he’s now cultivating his singing career?
“I’m grateful to GMA Music for giving me the chance to record a song. When they gave it to me, sabi ko, sure ba kayong ako ang gusto nyo for this song kasi mataas ang pitch niya for me. But they said they will adjust the song and they did.
"Ibinagay nila sa boses ko. Actually, yung song, hindi siya madaling kantahan so pinagtiyagaan nila ako how to perfect it. Hindi rin ako sumuko and I just gave my best effort to the song.”
So which does he prefer now: acting or singing?
“Mas nage-enjoy pa rin ako sa acting before the camera, but I also love singing and sana, mabigyan ako ng chance to do a full album later. Puede naman sigurong pagsabayin ang acting and singing.”
“Slow Dance” is now available on Spotify, Youtube Music, Apple music and other digital stores worldwide.
