RICHARD YAP gets his first GMA teleserye since he moved from ABS-CBN. This is “I Left My Heart in Sorsogon” that pairs him with Heart Evangelista.
“When I was asked then who I’d like to work with among Kapuso stars, I mentioned Heart at heto, ibinigay agad,” he says.
“So laking pasasalamat ko na they granted my request agad kasi I really want to work with her and she didn’t disappoint me. Ang galing niya, wala akong masasabi.
"First scene na kinunan sa amin, intimate scene agad and she made sure na hindi ako maiilang sa kanya. She’s so accepting, welcoming. Nakita ko agad how good a person she is.”
Taping in Sorsogon is his first lock in taping away from his wife and kids.
“Masaya kami sa set. Heart is not only our lead actress but also our host in Sorsogon and inasikaso niya talaga kami while we’re doing lock in taping there.
"You'll see the most beautiful places in Sorsogon in the show. I also love Bicolano food so, nag-enjoy talaga ako. The show is something we can all be proud of.”
In the story, he plays Tonito, a rich businessman who is separated from his wife, played by Issa Litton. He falls in love with Heart, who plays Celeste, a well known fashion designer.
His elder sister, played by Marina Benipayo, is very protective of him and is against Heart. Even his ex-wife is interfering with their love affair.
“Maraming oppositions sa love story namin ni Heart,” he says.
“Then when she goes back home to visit Sorsogon where she grew up, another opposition comes up when she meets again Paolo Contis as her childhood sweetheart and na-rekindle ang feelings nila for each other.
"Maraming complicated emotions sa story that we’re sure viewers who love dramas will appreciate.”
Since the show is about leaving your heart somewhere, has he ever experienced this in real life?
“Yes, there was a time nagkahiwalay kami ng wife ko as my girlfriend then, but I realized naiwan ko talaga ang puso ko sa kanya so binalikan ko siya, and now we’ve been together for 31 years na.”
