ARIELLA ARIDA, Bb. Pilipinas 2013 who placed 3rd runner up in the Miss Universe then, was last seen in a teleserye in “The Killer Bride” on ABS-CBN.
She’s now playing a major role in the new Afternoon Prime series that has started airing this week, “The End of Us”, as Eunice, the mistress of Zoren Legaspi who causes the breakup of his marriage to Carmina Villaroel.
Looks like she’s now dead serious in her acting career as she also just did two movies with Viva, the comedy “Sarap Mong Patayin” and the romantic drama “More Than Blue”.
“Yes, I’m really enjoying acting and I wish na sana I had joined showbiz earlier pa,” she says.
How is it playing a mistress in “The End of Us”?
“This is not the first time for me to play such a role kasi I also played the mistress of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada in a movie called ‘Coming Home’,” she says.
“Pero dito, kabadong-kabado ako kasi ang mga kasama ko, real life couple. We all know Carmina and Zoren have been in the industry for a long time so I’m really a newbie compared to them.
"Sa story conference pa lang, I was really nervous, I felt I have to study well all my scenes with them and give my 200, not just 100 percent.”
Her fears were allayed when she got to meet them and talk to them personally.
“Bago kami nag-taping, we all had dinner at yun, it helped me a lot kasi they’re very nice, very warm and open, kaya naging comfortable ako agad with them.
"Our director, Zig Dulay, also helped me. Ginabayan niya ako nang todo and for that I will always be thankful.”
So how is it acting with them?
“Very realistic ang mga eksena nila kasi nga mag-asawa talaga sila in real life. I can see that they really complement each other.
"Tapos ako yung intruder na pumasok at nanggulo sa buhay nila kaya I’m sure maiinis sa akin ang viewers nito.”
She has a love scene with Zoren but with Carmina, most of their scenes show them quite hostile to each other.
“Ang scenes nami ni Carmina, laging intense, and that’s to be expected kasi nga wife siya and mistress ako so tuwing magkakaharap, we’re fighting.
"May scenes kami ng sampalan, sabunutan. She’s very nice kasi she always asks me afterward, kumusta ka? Nasaktan ba kita? And I have to assure her na okay lang ako.”
Carmina is so good and she felt always being challenged when acting with her.
“I really felt that I have to give my best effort in every scene with her. Eventually, I gained more confidence in doing my scenes with both of them.
"Malaking tulong yun for me to do my role better. Sana naman, yung viewers nito, huwag magagalit sa’kin for being the kabit and realize that I am just playing a role assigned to me.”
