KYLIE VERSOZA is doing one movie after another, all of them shown in Vivamax. The latest is “Sisid”, directed by Brillante Mendoza.
What can she say to bashers who claim that Vivamax shows nothing but sexy flicks?
“Vivamax as a platform offers a lot of other films, not just sexy ones,” she says. “I even did a comedy with them, ‘Bekis on the Run’.
"And they also have action and other comedies, but they’re marketed in a certain way to project the sexiness, kasi, let’s face it, it sells. The truth is that ang Vivamax, mas matapang gumawa ng content, mas liberating, mas free kasi nga streaming siya, but it’s beyond just being sexy.”
She takes their new movie, “Sisid”, as an example.
“Maganda ang kuwento nito, magaling ang direction and it even deals with relevant environmental issues. I really enjoyed doing it kasi it’s a different experience working with Direk Brillante Mendoza. Kakaiba siya.”
She was nervous at first as she’s aware he’s an internationally acclaimed filmmaker.
“May kaba but I’m also excited at the same time. Sa beginning, nangangapa ako, but nakita ko agad what he needs. Biggest challenge ang style of acting niya. Ang gusto niya, mas nararamdaman mo as an aktor ang eksena and you can take it from there.
"Hindi yung basta mine-memorize mo lang yung lines mo. So I pressured myself na mas kailangang aralin ang role ko at galingan ko kasi he gives you a lot of freedom. We shot all over Mindoro. First time ko roon and we’re able to showcase its beauty in the film.”
Paolo Gumabao plays her husband in “Sisid”. How is it working with him for the first time?
“Narinig ko na magaling siya and I confirmed it. Mahusay nga. I’ve worked with his older brother, Marco. And I can see Marco in him. It’s a nice experience working with both Direk Brillante and with Paolo.
Nakakahawa ang energy ni Paolo and also ni Vince Rillon. Lagi silang bigay na bigay.”
She also enjoyed playing her role as Paolo’s ill-fated wife.
“Maganda yung role ko as Abby. Mahal na mahal niya yung asawa niya and gagawin niya ang lahat for her husband.
"Then she finds out he has a secret pala. I enjoyed playing her. ‘Sisid’ is not just a sexy film kasi maganda ‘yung kuwento about love, sacrifice and acceptance.”
